Skilled movement involves a combination of perceptual, cognitive, and motor skills. While some skills may be innate, most skills are learned through practice from a young age. Skilled individuals perform movements that appear fluent, coordinated, controlled and effortless due to good technique. The differences between novice and skilled performers include novice movements being less efficient and skilled movements looking graceful.
