Emergency departments (EDs) across the country are inundated with too many patients based
upon staffing and resources (Sun et al., 2013). This is a problem, as overcrowding in the ED has
been shown to increase the likelihood of multiple negative outcomes. Patients who go to

Approach Urgent Care in ED Model Since overcrowded EDs must provide care to patients
across the acuity spectrum, it is imperative that the appropriate level of care is delivered as often
as possible. In other words, a physician does not need to perform assessments on a patient who
can be managed by a nurse practitioner (NP) or a physician assistant (PA). Similarly, a high acuity
patient should not be relegated to a longer time to assessment because the ED physicians are
assigned to too many patients already. In order to appropriately match patients with the level of
care required, EDs must increase NP and PA staffing to treat those who seek primary care and
urgent care treatment at the ED.
Urgent care models utilize multiple NPs and PAs. The reason being is these providers can deliver
the care at the level the patient requires. It has been shown that utilizing NPs in the ED can result
is lower acuity patients being seen and discharged faster, as well as helping overcrowding in the
ED overall (Burlingame Simpson, 2009). In concert with an effective front end and ambulance
triage model, NPs and other advanced practice providers can lessen the burden on ED physicians.
Importantly, nurse practitioners and other advanced providers contribute to throughput in the ED

Let s say that we theoretically took all teenage drivers off the road and put them in self driving
cars. These are America s newest drivers with the least experience on the road, so think about how

The family is what engulfs and reflects these aspects of a society. It is affected by the political
beliefs of a country, and it also reflects the social and economic standpoints in a society, most
specifically women s status. As we recently learned from Dr. Carmocolias, kinship, or the family, is

Turkey is a prime example of the division between urban and rural family life. This is a country
that was greatly impacted by its rich history. The influx of Europeans, due to the commercial treaty
of 1839, marked a period of rapid urbanization that changed family structures and brought
opportunity for women in the workforce (Duben, 7). One point I concluded here was that the
change in household structure mirrored the change in family structure. The European value of
independence was adopted by urban upper class families, and this later showed in the architecture
of the homes (Duben, 201). Family life in rural Turkey is still traditional, and maintains, for the
most part, the patriarchal system.

Throughout the movie there are a couple of themes that arise that I believe need to be addressed
before focusing on how the media holds institutions accountable. The first theme I d like to
focus on is the crisis of Faith. The character Mike, had an interesting and powerful character arc.
Once Mike sees the files that declare the church was guilty of abuse, he loses his religious Faith .
This loss of Faith is especially difficult for a man raised Catholic in one of the most Catholic of
cities. The net result is that Mike doubles down on his secular faith in the journalistic
investigative process on which he has embarked. His drive to get to the truth kicks his faith in the
investigation process into an even higher gear. Further, it s not just an individual s turn, it s an
entire generations turn as well to face the crises of Faith . The priests abuse was horrific. This is
and should be a story about the victims permanent scars. The film also shows how the church s
cover up has furthered the very erosion of the institution they were trying to protect. Mike in that
sense stands in for many who lost their Faith in the wake of the abuse scandal, Faith in the Catholic
church, Faith and trust in the Priests who lead and represent the church, even Faith in God .

These numbers can be frightening for students who have to take out loans to finance their
education. However, many students do not understand what is waiting for them after graduation.
Students are encouraged to pick a subject to study that interest them; although this is important,
students also need to look at the job opportunities available in that field of study. For example,
many young students aspire to become teachers, the job definitely has some perks, but finding a
full time job in teaching can be difficult. According to Maclean s 67 per cent of education
graduates from Ontario s class of 2009 found themselves unemployed or underemployed in the
following year (Dehaas 2011). When there are little to no job opportunities students begin to feel
the pressure and retreat back to what they know, school. Graduate school seems great and all, but
sometimes it is not the right track to take. Students accumulate more debt, become more specialized
and expect higher pay because of their higher education. The Economist reports, In Canada 80%
of postdocs earn $38,600 or less per year before tax the average salary of a construction worker
(The Economist 2010). Students need to weigh their options before running back to school. It
might be best to work at a local restaurant for a year while looking for a job in your career. When
