How to Expand the Persian Empire and Keep it Under Control By: Caitlin Rabuck
Step One The first part in expanding an empire is to have a strong king. A king like Cyrus the Great, who expanded the Persian empire further than any other Persian king had. Cyrus the Great had been famous for being able to expand and keep the empire under control.
Step Two The next step in expanding an empire is to have a strong army. “The Immortals” was a group of 10,000 soldiers in the Persian empire. They were called “The Immortals” because if one man was killed or wounded and could no longer fight, a new man would be put in his place immediately. This tactic helped win many battles.
Step Three After you have your strong king and army, you will need to get weapons. Horses would also be necessary. Anything that will help move the soldiers during war or attack the other warriors will be needed. The soldiers will need to be trained. They need to be fit physically ,[object Object]
Step Four Alright, you have your king, trained soldiers, and weapons. Next, you will need to discuss what exactly your goal is and how your going to achieve it. The goal is to conquer a certain country and be able to still control the entire empire. How your going to do this? You'll do all of the steps above and discuss with your ,[object Object]
Step Five The next step will be to attack and begin the battle. If you followed the steps then you should win the battle and be able to go home quickly. After you have won the battle you will need to stay in the now conquered country. The people living there should be taken as prisoners and the king should either be killed in ,[object Object]
Step Six When you have all the people as prisoners, you will take some back to the empire. Those will work and later once under control they will be trained to be soldiers. For the rest of the prisoners you will need to set rules. The Persians set rules that let the prisoners speak their own language and keep their religion. ,[object Object]
Step Seven After prisoners cannot escape, you will have to set up bases in the new part of your empire. Soldiers should never leave the prisoners or the new piece of the empire because you don't want other empires attacking and taking the land. The bases should be all over the land and should have strong soldiers at each ,[object Object]
Step Eight After you have the bases and all the prisoners under control, you need to update the king. The king should know of all problems that occur at each base. He should also know of how the base is doing and how the prisoners are acting. Little problems that don't matter should not be told to the king.
Step Nine The final step is to do all the steps all over again but with different countries. Do not conquer land and then go straight to the next bit of land. If you rush the conquering process you lose the amount of control you have over the other newly conquered lands.
