The document discusses several principles of sustainable and regenerative business, including using profits to strengthen communities, viewing problems as opportunities, and knowing your market. It provides examples of companies like Patagonia and Grameen Bank that have built successful businesses while solving social and environmental problems. The key message is that business can be a powerful tool for positive change when done with purpose and with the needs of people and planet in mind.
Peter Kenyon is a social capitalist and community enthusiast. Over the last four decades he has worked with more than 2000 communities throughout Australia and overseas seeking to facilitate fresh and creative ways that stimulate community and local economic renewal. He is motivated by the desire to create healthy, caring, inclusive, connected, sustainable and enterprising communities and local economies.
Peter has had a background as a youth worker, teacher, youth education officer, tertiary lecturer and senior public servant. His employment experiences have included Director of Employment in Western Australia,
Manager of the Community Employment Development Unit in New Zealand and Coordinator of the Natal Kwazulu Job Creation and Enterprise Strategy in South Africa.
Peter is convinced that one cannot develop communities from the top down or from the outside in. It requires communities to build from the inside out, and for their members to invest themselves, ideas, assets and resources in the process. Peter created the Bank of I.D.E.A.S. (Initiatives for the Development of Enterprising Action and Strategies) to promote such a paradigm shift and assist with the necessary facilitation, ideas and skills.

The Economics of Kindness: The End of Capitalism and the Birth of a New Cooperative Economy.
Today’s economy has become for many a kindness-free zone, in which most of the benefits go to the rich, while others suffer, and nature is assaulted.
Capitalism is based on the competitive pursuit of self- interest, but a new economy is emerging to replace it, based on cooperation and kindness. It is being built in cities and on farms, in new kinds of business and banking, and in new approaches to work.
Guy Dauncey is a futurist who works to develop a positive vision of a sustainable future, and to translate that vision into action. His work has been enthusiastically received by environmental activists, politicians, scientists and community planners, including prominent Canadians such as David Suzuki and Elizabeth May. He is the author of Journey to the Future and The Climate Challenge: 101 Solutions to Global Warming.

There are more problems that we face today than before, following status quo or thinking that billionaires and their foundations will save us is simply a dream that has not been realized and will never be.
Poverty is a complex problems and will not be solved if we let the governments and the rich address it while we watch and send thoughts and prayers.
If status quo does not solve problems, perhaps we need to all try to do our part and look for solutions, try for our local community. It take effort and courage to bring about change.

There has never been a problem with the resources. The problems lie within the distribution.
We are the first generation to end poverty and may be the last
generation to solve the climate challenge.
Time might not be at our side but windows of opportunities are still around.
It may seem this is the worst of time, yet we can make it the best of time.
A change in mindset supported by collective and collaborative effort shall land us in a more resilient future, where all of us, and generations to come can live peacefully under a wealth creation and resource distribution model like never before.

How to use what makes your country unique to create competitive advantageDrthomasbrand Limited
How to leverage the unique strengths and capabilities of your company, country or region to create a sustainable business with a strong competitive advantage.
This article is done with specific emphasis on emerging markets where many local communities lack the resources or a sustainable way to create a higher standard of living for all. Examples are used to illustrate what countries and regions can do to resolve this challenge.
Essentially, it also endorses the fact that true competitive advantage lies in what a company can truly do authentically.

“Most people want to do good, and believe that doing so will ultimately benefit everyone, including a company’s shareholders. But what’s been missing in recent decades is a clear compass to guide those in leading positions in our society and economy,” ~ Klaus Schwab, founder and executive chairman of the World Economic Forum.
Imagine being a consumer, you walk into two different shops looking for a new pair of shoes. One is a traditional retail shop, the other one, as you walked in, a simple signboard caught your attention stating that “for every pair of shoes you bought, we will donate another pair to those who need it.” Which shop will you end up purchasing the shoes from if the quality and pricing are more or less the same?
“Charity is no solution to poverty. Charity only perpetuates poverty by taking the initiative away from the poor. We can create a poverty-free world because poverty is not created by poor people. It has been created and sustained by the economic and social systems that we have designed for ourselves; the institutions and concepts that make up that system; the policies that we pursue. You change the system and people get out of poverty. It is the ability to control capital that gives people the power to rise out of poverty.” ~ Muhammad Yunus, Banker to the Poor: Micro-Lending and the Battle Against World Poverty

Actitud para conseguir productos que hacen del mundo un sitio mejorSilvia Calvet
Vivimos en un mundo que no funciona: crisis financiera, crisis ecológica, pobreza, consumismo… A nivel personal intentamos contribuir comprando productos locales, biológicos, reciclando, dando soporte a entidades sociales o dando parte de nuestro tiempo a “buenas causas”.
Make sustainability sustainable (preview)Fan Foundry
Marketing "green" products often backfires because, much as we'd like all buyers to follow the altruistic "because green is better" thinking, other unaddressed factors intervene to short circuit that thinking, with the result that sustainable solutions fail to gain traction in the hearts and minds of buyers. But it doesn't have to be that way.
