This document analyzes the British comedy series "People Just Do Nothing". It discusses several stereotypical characters in the show, including Chabuddy G, an illegal immigrant who tries many jobs but always messes them up. The group looks up to Grinder as their leader, and there is a hierarchy within their social circle. Camera shots are used to emphasize characters' confusion, lack of education, and to make the audience feel included in the characters' hijinks.

1. People just do nothing analysis
People just do nothing is a comedy about a group of adults who hit every
stereotype possible about youth.
The first camera technique used was an establishing shot. This showed the
audience where the comedy was going to take place yet unlike any other drama
this was not the intro shot this was a little later. The effect of this is that it gives
the viewer an expectation of what the drama is going to be like.
This comedy has some obvious stereotypes one of these is the stereotypical
illegal immigrant. This character in the comedy is known a ‘Chabuddy G’ who
says that he came to this country using his brothers passport and in the episode I
analysed Michelle who speaks to Chabuddy G cannot understand him to begin
with. Chabuddy G hits every stereotype when concerning work he has tried
every job possible but he still manages to mess it up an example of this is when
he messes up the T-shirts what were ordered by Michelle.
Chabuddy is introduced to the audience for the first time by a medium body shot.
The reason for this is to show that he is trying another job yet again. The effect of
this is to create humour for the audience as Chabuddy is often shown trying
different jobs like the stereotypical illegal immigrant.

2. The drama shows some higher archery and status. Grinder is the main person
who everyone looks up to so he is seen as the leader of their little group and in
the episode I analysed Beats and Decoy both have a chance of become godfather
of Grinders daughter. Beats is shown to be trying everything to become
godfather to Grinders daughter he even tries to bribe her. This emphasises their
ladder of status in their group with Grinder being at the top. Compared to
societies ladder all of them would be near the bottom, as they may be perceived
as useless people in society who just do drugs and don’t even understand the
Christian service they put their daughter through. This links in with societies
expectation of the lower class being stupid which is shown in the comedy when
Grinder struggles to put a clip on tie on.
A medium camera shot is used here to express
Grinders confusion and to show his body language
when Michelle responds to him. The
effect/impression this gives the audience is that
Grinder is uneducated and struggles with the
simplest task.

3. The camera is used in many ways most of the comedy is shot from a first person
perspective and shows all the characters going about their daily business this
gives the audience a view from a first person perspective and makes them feel
included in the mischief and madness. This could result in them wanting to
watch how all these characters develop as people and to watch how they change
over time this would benefit the show at a later date and could make it become a
hit.
