Semantic Annotation Without the Pointy Brackets with Elton Barker, The Open University (UK)/Pelagios This workshop will introduce Recogito, a Web-based open-source software platform for semantic annotation, with a focus on geographic content (e.g. itineraries, histories, maps, etc.), and connecting online resources documenting the past. Special attention will be given to showing how Recogito offers opportunities for libraries to harvest new and more fine-grained metadata about their holdings, and how collaborative annotation can be a powerful tool for classroom teaching or for public engagement.
