PEER COUNSELOR
Summary of Qualifications
I am a Homeless Veteran myself and have turned my life around and want to do
the same for others. I am the one that loves to go out into the community and find
answer, ways and programs for all of in need.
I work with Homeless Vets and college students to meet their dreams of Higher
Education. I have a project named after myself called "Project George's Kids"
where community centers distributed knitted caps, scarfs, ski jackets and
computers to ones in need. I have received “the President Service Award from the
Community College of Denver for my work within the community. I have spoken
at the Governor's Mansion to talk on the behalf of the Veterans and am always in
the community doing outreach work for the homeless. Selected to speak with
Vice President Joe Biden about how it is never to late to change your life. I am
currently enrolled in an Associate's of Science program for human service at "The
Community College of Denver" and have been accepted into a "Social Work
Program" for my Bachelor's at Metro State University. I have put together a
"Education Fair" along with VOA for the Homeless Veterans. I am an Active
member with "The Aurora Veteran Form" which helps Veterans with support. I
am now working with "Close to Home", telling my story to bring "Homeless
Awareness". I have a big passion for helping our homeless Veterans and the ones
living in poverty.
