This Timeline project depicts who is
the designer. It showcases who she
was before, who she is now and
what she wants to be in the future.
Again, colors and shapes are
observed because this is where the
designer focuses. Some of the
pictures are from online sources.

Alyssa chose San Miguel Corporation for
her inspiration for corporate giveaway
because it is the leading company in the
Philippines for two consecutive years! She
thought of a mason jar because it shows
specialty, they may be quite expensive yet
it shows simplicity and elegance. She
used black, red and yellow colors because
it is the color of the company. Used yellow
background to complement the color of
San Miguel Cororation. This mason jar is
meant for their product San Mig Coffee.

The design of the packaging is animal print.
The color differs depending on the flavor of
the chosen delicacy from the Philippines,
Otap. This project was made to promote
Philippine food around the world. Logo,
nutritional facts and about the food can be
seen in front and back of the packaging.

One of the projects made in Alyssa’s
Product Design and Development Class is
Mondrian Clock. The design inspiration was
from the famous dutch painter Piet
Mondrian. His design focuses on Red,
Blue and Yellow Color and Lines and it was
named after him because of his excellence.
Before this clock was made and produced,
their class practiced first how to draw
Orthographic Plates and that is how they
made their Clocks.

Alyssa designed her Rommy Toy as a Carabao, the
Philippine National Animal to promote again the
Philippines. But what is Rommy Toy? It is an original
paper toy model designed by Tetsuya Watabe, those
models are a gift of the Japanese Paper Engineer to
the simple people like you! I used glossy specialty
paper and colored tit black to show the shiny black
skin of Carabaos.

These 3d shapes are made out of
acetate. This activity helped us to
focus on cutting and assembling
the shapes. We used cutter,
scissors, cutting mat, double
adhesive tape and glue to form it
into 3d. It looks like it can be done
easily but focus and patience
should also be observed. The
format of the 3d shapes is also
attached.

The Product Design class was also
assigned to make and design for
Meycauayan Jewelry Competition. It
consists of 5 categories and anyone can
make a maximum of 5 designs, having one
design per category only. This is an Ethnic
design made by the designer. She made
one designs for Ethnic, Formal and Chic
categories.

The necklace is made out of Big Gold Rings with Blue
Green Gems attached to it. Two colors complement each other
and fit the Formal category because it can be used during work,
meeting, and other formal occasions. The size of the whole
necklace is 220 mm, the width of the necklace as a whole is
200 mm with 6 mm blue green gems and the size of the gold
rings is 10 mm in width and a height of 12 mm. This design of a
formal necklace can be used also in semi-formal occasions to
not limit the formal category. I named the necklace Aurora
because it came from the natural wonder of the Earth Aurora
Borealis which appears to be in blue green color. The photo
below shows a picture of an Aurora Borealis.

The necklace is made out of Gold and Pink Flowers with
Gold Leaves. Two colors complement each other and fit the
Chic category because it can be used during work, catching up
with friends, attending to parties and many more! The size of
the whole necklace is 250mm together with the pendant, with
20 mm pink flowers and the size of the leaves are 18mm.This
design of a chic necklace can be used also in semi-formal,
formal occasions to not limit the hic category I named the
necklace Gerbera because it came from the flower Gerbera that
looks like the flower I designed for this necklace. Also, the Pink
color and the flowers and leaves indicate the colors and
symbols of women.

These pop cards activity helped the students to think of
a creativity way on how to send letters and appreciation
to someone in a creative way! Their first activity was to
cut out the spaces between letters and let it pop! The
class used cutter, scissors, colored papers, steel ruler
and cutting mat to produce one. The first two pop up
cards were made by all Product Design students and
the last design were chosen by them. Colors are
observed to complement the colored papers.

Alyssa Manalo Belmonte, 20, an
Entrepreneurship and Product Design
and Development Fourth Year Student in
Miriam College, depicts and focuses her
design on colors and shapes. She may
not be excellent in designing a product,
but she makes sure it comes from her
heart and checks every little detail of her
works. She focuses on colors and
shapes because this is the new trend in
designing- it has to be unique and
elegant. Alyssa is also material
conscious because she believes in the
quality of the products that she makes.
Her inspirations for making the designs
are nature, animals and anything that
goes around her mind. Alyssa’s designs
also define who she is, putting simplicity
and elegance in her designs.
