This is the letter that was sent by pastors asking President Obama to make a religious exception in the law concerning the hiring of LGBT individuals by religious organizations. Under current plans, President Obama would require religious organizations to hire members of the LGBT community in order to compete for dollars which have traditionally been delivered to religious organizations to help them serve the community and public. Will Obama respond favorably? Or will he simply impose his views without regard to closely held religious practices? We will see.

Working in Washington to Get
Things Done
Congressman Paulsen is working across the aisle to enact solutions. Erik
is taking the lead to stop child sex trafficking in our communities. As the
father of four daughters, it was shocking to learn that 300,000 children
are at risk of being prostituted in the U.S. each year and the average age
of victims is 13 years old. Online advertising services like Backpage.com
allow sexual predators to go online and order a child prostitute as easily
as ordering a pizza. Congress must take action to protect our children.
Congressman Paulsen is sponsoring this bipartisan legislation:
3 H.R. 2744 – The Child Sex Trafficking Data and Response Act
Addresses the high prevalence of sex trafficking in runaway youth
and youth in foster care
3 H.R. 3610 – The Stop Exploitation through Trafficking Act
Expands safe harbor laws and ensures that minors who are trafficked
are treated as victims instead of criminals
3 H.R. 4225 – The Stop Advertising Victims of Exploitation
(SAVE) Act
Makes it a criminal offense for advertising sites like Backpage.com to
advertise offers for sex services that exploit minors.
Erik talks with a young mother and her three children
about how the economy has affected their family.
Erik discusses the economy during a
tour of small businesses in the district.
Erik enjoys interacting with our veterans and discussing his work in Congress.
“ I truly value your input. Touring
small businesses, visiting schools
and attending local events keep
me connected to our community
and ensures that I can bring your
voice to Washington.”
