2. MYASTHENIA GRAVIS
Myasthenia gravis is an autoimmune disorder affecting the myoneural junction,
is characterized by varying degrees of weakness of the voluntary muscles.
It is also a neuromuscular disorder
It occurs when communication between nerve cells and muscles becomes
impaired
This impairment prevents crucial muscle contractions from occurring, resulting in
muscle weakness Jegan
3. MG is a neuromuscular disorder that’s usually caused by an autoimmune
problem.
Autoimmune disorders occur when your immune system mistakenly attacks
healthy tissue.
In this condition, antibodies, which are proteins that normally attack foreign,
harmful substances in the body, attack the Nicotinic acetylcholine receptor,
which is a crucial substance for communication between nerve cells and
muscles.
This results in muscle weakness.

4. MYASTHENIA GRAVIS
The most commonly affected muscles are those of the eyes, face, and
mouth.
It can result in
Double vision
Drooping eyelids
Trouble talking
Trouble walking Jegan
10. DIAGNOSIS
MG can be difficult to diagnose, as the symptoms can be subtle and hard
to distinguish from both normal variants and other neurological disorder
Physical examination
Blood test
Electrodiagnostics
MRI

11. TREATMENT
Treatment is by medication and/or surgery.
Medication consists mainly of
Acetylcholinesterase inhibitors to directly improve muscle function
Immunosuppressant drugs to reduce the autoimmune process
