‘The process was poorly understood’ I am not naming anyone.
The other version of the passive is where I name the person at the end
of the sentence: ‘The process was poorly understood by Jack’. That
version is a little softer than actively saying: ‘Jack poorly understood the
process’.
But most of the time it’s best to be active: ‘Jack poorly understood the
process’ because the meaning is immediately clear.
