Coinbase, Robinhood and other major crypto exchanges have formed a consortium called TRUST to comply with new FATF regulations requiring the reporting of cryptocurrency transactions over $3,000, while protecting user privacy. TRUST will address privacy concerns around these new rules. It remains unclear how TRUST will legally operate with non-members or how governments will collect personal data from decentralized transactions.

Coinbase, Robinhood and Others Respond to Looming FATF
Regulations; Establish TRUST to Protect Privacy
Many major Crypto exchanges and brokers including but not limited to Coin-
base and Robinhood have responded to recently announced FATF regula-
tions by forming into a consortium and releasing what they call the TRUST
plan that they claim will comply with the new laws while simultaneously
protecting user privacy. TRUST or “Travel Rule Uni-
versal Solution Technology” will address privacy con-
cerns amidst the newFATF ruling that crypto exchang-
es and brokers must report all transactions over $3,000
in order to combat terrorism and money laundering.
Optimists say the new ruling and compliance plan will
help legitimize crypto in the global economy, while
detractors lament the increased governmental monitor-
ing of a once privacy based asset. It remains to be seen
if TRUST members will be able to legally do business
with non members as well as how the government in-
tends to collect personal data like names and addresses
from Defi wallet transactions.

Russian Ministry Echoes Putin’s Sentiment on Russian Crypto Mining
A statement released by the Russian Ministry of Eco-
nomic Development seems to be in line with previ-
ous statements by Russian president Vladimir Putin
who has suggested that Crypto Mining should be le-
galized as a commercial and taxable activity in cer-
tain sectors where energy is abundant. The Minis-
try’s proposal hopes to create a boost in the Russian
economy while avoiding the pitfalls of energy over-
use which afflicted countries like Kazakhstan and
Iran. The ministry says they will accomplish this by
only allowing miners to operate on specified energy
surplus grids and by placing limits on the amount
electricity each mining device can consume. The
ministry also hopes to stimulate the growing industry by creating lower rates and tariffs in return for setting up
a mining operation on designated land. Currently the third most popular country in the world for Bitcoin Min-
ing, Russia has faced pushback against its growing adoption of crypto– mainly and unsurprisingly, from its
own Central Bank which touts the volatility of Crypto as a major threat to the economy– calling for a complete
Russian ban on Crypto. However, some form of taxed regulation now appears the most likely outcome.

Red Bull Racing Inks Sponsorship Deal With
Crypto Exchange Bybit for $150M
Oracle Red Bull Racing Team recently announced that they
have signed a sponsorship deal with crypto exchange Bybit
for a record-breaking $150M. The deal also gives Bybit ex-
clusive rights to issue Red Bull Racing’s fan token. Bybit has
also committed to joining Red Bull Racing’s initiative to in-
crease “crypto literacy” and “the growth of green technolo-
gies”. The crypto firm states it will further assist Red Bull
Racing’s tech division as its new token issuance partner by
helping to distribute the company’s “growing digital asset
collection”. Red Bull Racing’s CEO says that new sponsor-
ship and partnering will aspire to “enliven the fan experience
in F1 through digital innovation”. This sponsorship’s valua-
tion also represents the largest crypto venture into the world of international sports, possibly setting the stage for
future large scale collaborations between crypto and the wide world of sports.
NYSE Patent Filing may be Hinting at the Launch of an NFT Marketplace
Following the success of decentralized art market places like OpenSea and Rarible, the NYSE seems to be posturing for
an entry into the non-fungible token or ‘NFT’ marketplace, as it has recently submitted a patent filing seeking to register
“NYSE” for the sale of goods and services relating to augmented reality and various forms of cryptocurrency including
NFTs. The patent would give the exchange the rights to provide “an online marketplace for buyers, sellers, and traders of
downloadable digital goods authenticated by non-fungible tokens (NFTs)”. The move makes it almost a certainty that
the NYSE will be entering the crypto space sooner than later, however, it is unclear due to the wording of the patent,
whether they will be minting a native coin. This isn’t the first time the NYSE has flirted with the NFT market, with the
exchange releasing a series of NFTs in 2021 to commemorate the IPO’s of certain company’s like DoorDash and Spoti-
fy. This move also comes after a rash of patent filings in the metaverse, including luxury brand Hermès and Walmart.
