The ear has several parts including the outer ear canal, eardrum, hammer, anvil, stirrup, cochlea and tube that work together to transmit sound waves to the brain. The outer ear canal carries sound waves to the eardrum which vibrates the hammer, anvil and stirrup that transmit vibrations through a tube to the cochlea where hair cells convert them into nerve signals sent to the brain.
