Digital Hospital Program
The Digital Hospital program has made substantial progress
and to date have successfully transformed eleven acute
healthcare facilities into fully Digital Hospitals.
Currently, over 30% of Queensland hospital beds are
digital. By the end of 2019 a further 3 healthcare facilities
will become “Digital Hospitals”.
And by 2020, Queensland
will have 27 Digital Hospitals.

facility with highly connected, interactive
digital information systems which support
precise, informed treatment of individual
patients/clients while enabling optimally
efficient use of infrastructure

Digital Genomics Strategy
 Strategy outlines how eHealth Queensland will provide
digital tools and technology for:
o ordering genomics tests
o reporting on results
o updating a patient’s electronic medical record
o supporting analysis of data and clinical decision making.
 Strategy developed in collaboration with key Queensland
Health and external stakeholders including Queensland
Genomic Health Alliance, Genetic Health Queensland,
Health Support Queensland and
Clinical Excellence Queensland.
A six year roadmap to provide the technology to empower clinicians to use genomic information.

Health Informatics Strategy
 Information Management Strategy and Roadmap
o Outlines indicative program of work required across Queensland Health
and Hospital and Health Services.
 Data Custodianship - data and application custodianship
policy has been developed
o Health Informatics Services working to identify and appoint Data and
Application custodians.
 Digital Literacy and Capability
o 2nd cohort of the Certified Health Informatician Australasia (CHIA)
program (funded by eHealth) is underway.
o Working with Clinical Excellence Queensland to develop the
Manage4Improvement program to develop leadership around digital
innovation and change.
o Currently working on a Digital Readiness Strategy to support multiple
upcoming programs.

 Challenges and issues:
o More than 325,000 mHealth apps.
o Queensland Health needs to create apps too (Clinical and
non-clinical).
o No unified strategy, policy and process for mHealth.
• eHealth Queensland actions:

Currently, over 30% of Queensland hospital beds are digital. By the end of 2019 a further 3 healthcare facilities will become “Digital Hospitals”. And by 2020, Queensland will have 27 Digital Hospitals. OFFICIAL 11 Digital Genomics Strategy  Strategy outlines how eHealth Queensland will provide digital tools and technology for: o ordering genomics tests o reporting on results o updating a patient’s electronic medical record o supporting analysis of data and clinical decision making.  Strategy developed in collaboration with key Queensland Health and external stakeholders including Queensland Genomic Health Alliance, Genetic Health Queensland, Health Support Queensland and Clinical Excellence Queensland. A six year roadmap to provide the technology to empower clinicians to use genomic information.
