Sam Engelmann’s Social Media Page
Viewing Sam Engelmann’s social media page gives me some clues about his interests
that coincideswith his career path.For Example, the front page is very tranquil and provides the
viewer with a sunset and cloud-mist—as a recruiter (hypothetically), I’d like to think that this is
a charismatic and friendly individual that enjoys mother-nature. The pictures in Sam’s page leads
me to believe that he is interested in sports, possibly pursuing some level of marketing,
advertising, and or promoting the sports industry—particularlyBaseball and the Tampa Bay
Rays.
His Career Vision Statement is clearly stated on his “about” page; it provides a brief tothe-point summary of what he aims to do in his career. I see his goals are clearly stated, andit
shows a level of passion to work on a team beyond college; there is even a hint of humor with his
“bragging rights.”
Though there is a solid, yet brief amount of information about Sam, I think the front page
is incorrectly positioned for viewers on Google+; this stifles his visibility to others. If I was a
manager searching for potential employees and chose to view Sam’s social media account, I
would have glanced at it briefly and moved on to another recruit,because ofthe core employment
information was on the second page (his “about” page), not his first or main page.
Sam’s social media page is a good start towards selling himself to employers. I think with
some more detailed information and a re-arrangement of his page layout, Sam’s Google+
account will be more effective.
My Social Media Page
After thoroughly viewing my Google+ account, I realized that there is just not enough
information about me and my career prospects. Not only is there a lack of informative and
valuable information about me, but the main selling points are not on the front page to catch the
viewer’s eye.
Honestly,Google+ is just temporary. I plan to create a LinkedIn page sometime at the end
of the year, when I ramp up to prepare my resume for my 2015 job search. I’ll provide a current
picture of myself from the chest upwards, and a full frontal view wearing some sort of business
attire…without a tie. My resume will have to be posted along with my past work experience that
includes the military (AF), aviation maintenance, and some former small business owner
attributes. I can also elaborate with honesty, about my skills that I have learned along the
way.Beyond the usual elements that will make up my social media page, I want to have some
other professionals that I know from networking, or that I associate with in the business world.
