What to bring?
The 2016 Alberta Summer Games have the goal of being a
disposable water bottle free event so please bring a long a
reusable water bottle can be refilled at a number of water
stations. You can also help reduce waste at the Games by
bringing along a reusable coffee mug.
If you have room, bring along your bike. Leduc has a beautiful
multi-way trail system that connects directly to the main venues.
SUSTAINABILITY
JULY 14-17TH, LEDUC ALBERTA | 32
UNLEASH YOUR ECOSMARTS
GOALS
1: Achieve 80% waste diversion at the Leduc Recreation Centre (LRC).
2: Power LRC with 100% clean energy.
3: Host a disposable water bottle free event.
4: Educate 5000 visitors and residents about sustainability at the Games.
Think Before You Toss – waste stations at Games venues will clearly
indicate how to sort your trash so that it can be turned into compost or
recycled into new items instead of being piled into a landfill.
Get a Breath of Clean Air – encourage your family members and
guests to park the car and walk, carpool or take transit from venue to
venue so that all the Games athletes can breathe easy. The majority of
the venues are all within really close walking distance and are connected
by our beautiful multi-way trail system.
Reduce, Reuse, then Recycle – encourage family members and
guests to bring reusable water bottles (athletes will all receive a water
bottle) and coffee mugs to reduce the amount of trash that gets left
behind. There will be water refill stations available at both indoor and
outdoor venues.
Shower Smart – a five minute shower gets you clean and goes a long
way to conserve our precious water resources (and ensures all of your
sweaty competitors have time for a shower too!).
HOW CAN ATHLETES HELP?
Our Mission
“Sustainability at the Games means
reducing the impact on Leduc’s and
Alberta’s environment so that
generations to come can continue to
enjoy and thrive in a healthy and clean
natural environment.”

SUSTAINABILITY JULY 14-17TH, LEDUC ALBERTA | 32 UNLEASH YOUR ECOSMARTS GOALS 1: Achieve 80% waste diversion at the Leduc Recreation Centre (LRC). 2: Power LRC with 100% clean energy. 3: Host a disposable water bottle free event. 4: Educate 5000 visitors and residents about sustainability at the Games. Think Before You Toss – waste stations at Games venues will clearly indicate how to sort your trash so that it can be turned into compost or recycled into new items instead of being piled into a landfill. Get a Breath of Clean Air – encourage your family members and guests to park the car and walk, carpool or take transit from venue to venue so that all the Games athletes can breathe easy. The majority of the venues are all within really close walking distance and are connected by our beautiful multi-way trail system. Reduce, Reuse, then Recycle – encourage family members and guests to bring reusable water bottles (athletes will all receive a water bottle) and coffee mugs to reduce the amount of trash that gets left behind. There will be water refill stations available at both indoor and outdoor venues. Shower Smart – a five minute shower gets you clean and goes a long way to conserve our precious water resources (and ensures all of your sweaty competitors have time for a shower too!). HOW CAN ATHLETES HELP? Our Mission “Sustainability at the Games means reducing the impact on Leduc’s and Alberta’s environment so that generations to come can continue to enjoy and thrive in a healthy and clean natural environment.” SOUVENIRS AVAILABLEATTHEFOLLOWING LOCATIONS -WILLIAMF.LEDEPARK -OPENINGCEREMONIES -LEDUCRECCENTER SOUVENIRS
