REASONS FOR WORKING LONG HOURS:
There are four main reasons why parents
works long hours:
i. The requirements of the job (including
completing the tasks involved, having a
high workload, and customer demands)
ii. The need for a greater income (both
maintaining a basic standard of living,
and being able to afford “extras”)
iii. The pressure of workplace and industry
culture
iv. To a lesser extent, to earn the more
intangible rewards of work
THE BENEFITS OF WORKING HARD:
(ADVANTAGES)
The benefits of parents working too hard for them are:-
i. 1. Good Impact on academics: If parents work too hard for their children
might get good education.
ii. 2. Bright future:- If children are getting good education, they may have a
bright future.
iii. 3. Good food: If the parents work hard and have a very good source of
income then the child can get good food.
iv. 4. Good clothes: If the parents work hard and have a very good source of
income then the child can get good clothes.
DISADVANTAGES:
Some of the disadvantages of parents working
too hard are:
i. The child gets to hang out with people other
than the family.
ii. When parents work hard they spend less
time with their children. Thus, the child may
be parted away from their parents and they
may think that their parents are not spending
too much time with them
CONT.
v. Sometimes parents do not have enough time to teach their children. As a
result the child may have no manners and the child may become irresponsible.
vi. Most of the time parents have high expectations about their children and if
they cannot fulfill their wishes the children are punished.
vii. When parents are in office, doing their work the children may be home
alone and sometimes the parents are least bothered about their children’s
safety.
viii. Sometimes parents may have some arguments regarding their work and
they may have some conflicts. It can result in divorce. After the parents are
separated the child becomes lonely and then he/she may become spoiled and
the child makes no friends.
THE FIVE THINGS MANYPARENTS GIVE UPTOACHIEVE
ASUCCESSFULWORK-LIFE BALANCE FOR
THEMSELVESAND THEIR CHILDREN:
Here are the five things many parents give up to achieve a successful work-life balance
for themselves and their children:
1. Their Pride About Asking for Help
Even in today’s world, it takes a village to raise a child. Asking for help requires
humility, but seeking support can be one of the biggest keys to success. This is
especially true for single parents. Successful parents don’t necessarily depend on
others, but are often willing to trade favors. When parents arrange for assistance that
ensures their kids are being cared for, they’re able to be more productive at work.
2. The Belief That They Need to Split Their Time Equally
Achieving a balance between career and children doesn’t necessarily mean the time is
split evenly. Successful parents understand that there will be times when their family
will need more attention and times when a career will demand more energy.
CONT.
3. The Idea That They Have to Neglect Themselves
There’s a reason why airlines say that in the event of an emergency you should
put your oxygen mask on first, before assisting anyone else. If we don’t take
care of yourself first, we won’t have anything left to give. When we’re feeling
overtired and stretched too thin, it may seem beyond our understanding to
squeeze in a little “me time.” But, the fact is, those times when we feel like we
can’t possibly spare a minute for ourselves, are likely the times when we need
“me time” the most. Successful parents know that taking care of themselves
helps their efficiency and productivity over the long-term. Although it’s
important to get plenty of sleep and relaxation, exercise may be even more
important.
CONCLUSION:
At the end of the day, parents who work too
hard also needs to spend a good amount of
time with their children. There are many
benefits and disadvantages of parents
working hard. One of the disadvantage is
that the child gets to hang out with other
people than their family and the child may
not feel comfortable with their families and
one of the benefit is that the child gets good
education and they may have a bright future
and achieve a lot of success. Parents should
work hard, in my opinion but they should
also spend a good quality of time with their
children and family.
