The Pantheon in Rome was originally built as a temple in ancient Rome and later converted to a church. It contains the tombs of famous people like Raphael and has survived as the third version on the site, as the previous structures burned down. The current building was commissioned by Marcus Agrippa and its domed structure has inspired similar designs for other buildings like the United States Capitol.
