Connection: Recreation
It is important for communities to accept responsibility for a communities
need for leisure and recreation (Lunn, E. Adventure #2). This rec center is
one of the two biggest rec centers in Coquitlam and provides a multitude of
different activities for the community to take part in, which helps reinforce
the values and ideals needed to establish a healthy lifestyle (Lunn, E.
Adventure #4)

7. Queen of All Saints
Primary School
Address: Como Lake Ave, Coquitlam
Sector: Private
Queen of All Saints is a Catholic school in Coquitlam. Aside from the fact
that is considered a private school, it belongs in the private sector because it
requires a cost with which the school makes profit (Maclean, as cited in
Lunn, E. Adventure #4), and it is run based on the demand of Catholics in
Coquitlam who want a private education for their children.
Connection: Education
Queen of All Saints is a primary school that runs Grades 7 to 12. Like any
school, it provides its student with courses that cover the primary subjects
needed for a post secondary education, as well as opportunities for
students to learn about the Catholic Religion.

also offers camps in which you can learn the basics of how to climb. These
camps are run by coaches who have had years of experience in the field of

9. Coquitlam Center
Mall

goods for a cost. The mall uses advertising for its stores to create demand.

of the community (Lunn, E. Adventure #4). Coquitlam Center Mall provides
many different services such as food courts, clothing, tech, and
entertainment stores. It is located in a fairly central area for the majority of
those living in Coquitlam and is close to other recreational activities such as
library’s, swimming pools, schools, and grocery stores.

11. Boy Scouts Canada Address: Blue Mountain Park, Coquitlam

Scouts Canada can be considered a community sport organization. Its
service is to provide opportunities for kids of all ages to take part in

group of scouts does not do so for profit, and only generate enough profit
to cover costs (camping trips, equipment etc.).
Connection: Education
Education can be described as any service that facilitates the acquisition of
knowledge and skills (Wikimedia, 2022). Throughout the course of Boy

because although they still accept profit, all profit is used to build its own

meets their demands of having goods that are relatively inexpensive.
Connection: Recreation
One of the jobs of each municipality is to ensure that there is a broad range
of recreation opportunities for every group in the community (Lunn, E.
Adventure #4). Thrift stores are important to those who may have a tighter
budget but still enjoy shopping, which can aid in their social well-being and
quality of life. Thrift stores are also a great way to recycle used clothing that
still have some use left.

13. Coquitlam Metro
Ford Soccer Club

Sector: Non-profit
One of the characteristics of the CMFSC is that it is considered a Community
Sport Organization. They put any profit they make into the funding of
community infrastructure (CMFSC, 2022).

CMFSC runs for all kids ages 6 to 18. Throughout each season, kids will learn
many useful skills outside the realm of just soccer, such as team building and
communication, the importance of play, and respect; many of these being
important theories of play (Lunn, E. Adventure #3). But it all comes down to
the coach of the team and how prepared they are to take on this challenge.
In my experience playing soccer, my best friends dad was my coach for 6
years. When he decided to coach our team, he had to go through certain
courses, and a big part of these courses was the NCCP Training Modules
such as the DBSP and PaP classes (D. Stewart, personal communication).
