Roberto Clemente was a Puerto Rican baseball player for the Pittsburgh Pirates known for his great skill on the field and humanitarian work off it. He grew up poor in Puerto Rico and had to practice baseball with makeshift equipment. After signing with the Pirates, he became one of the greatest right fielders in MLB history, winning 12 Gold Gloves and 2 World Series. Off the field, he worked to help underprivileged youth and visited hospitals. Tragically, he died in a plane crash in 1972 while attempting to deliver aid to earthquake victims in Nicaragua, exemplifying his commitment to helping others in need.
