This document contains a summary of analyses done on data from IMDB and Netflix. It includes 4 graphs analyzing Netflix data: 1) movie/TV ratings distribution, 2) movie vs TV show counts, 3) titles by number of votes, 4) title counts by country. It also includes 4 graphs analyzing IMDB data: 1) movie earnings types, 2) movies released from 1920-2020, 3) top 10 titles by votes, 4) top 10 directors by meta score. Additionally, it compares IMDB and Netflix data on top 10 directors, title release years, and movie runtimes. The document aims to understand trends in movies and TV shows on the two platforms.

Dashboard – Overview of IMDB and Netflix Data

3. Netflix Data Analysis
Graph 1:
Observation: Out of the 14 different ratings, Maximum titles have the
ratings with TV-MA that is 3206 Titles and the minimum comes under
the UR rating that is only 3 titles.
Conclusion: TV-MA programs are intended to be viewed by mature,
adult audiences hence Netflix is a platform which holds these titles the
most to capture the adult audiences.

4. Graph 2: Movies and TV shows Distribution
Observation: As compared to TV shows, there are more movies listed
on Netflix that is 3453 more than the number of TV shows.
Conclusion: Reason behind more movies is listed might be because
they are of shorter duration and hence are more preferred by the
audiences.

5. Graph 3: Titles with Maximum Votes
Observation: This chart shows the 6 movies listed in IMDB with maximum
votes hence the most liked movies by the audience.
Conclusion: These movies are of genre Drama, Action and Action, Crime,
Drama hence these movies are more preferred and the director of the two
movies that is The Dark Knight and Inception is Christopher Nolan who
created the action movies.

6. Graph 4: Title Counts as Per Different Countries
Observation: India and United States produces maximum no. of TV
series and Movies altogether that is 43% of all the titles and rest come
from different parts of the world.
Conclusion: India and United States are the biggest market of movies
and series hence they should be more focussed.

7. IMDB Analysis
Graph 1: Titles by Earning Type
Observation: This graph shows the positive side of the movies in terms of
gross earnings.
Conclusion: This industry proves to be lucrative as highest no. of movies
have the high net earnings.

8. Graph 2: No. of IMDB Movies Released Between the Period 1920-
2020
Observation: Number of movies increased at a decreasing rate from the year
1940 to 1980 and then increased at an increasing rate till 2019. Later it
declined to only 6 movies releases in the year 2020.
Conclusion: The movie industry has grown up significantly over the last few
decades. However, it has been dramatically affected by covid-19 with steep
decline in movies in 2020.

9. Graph 3: Top 10 Titles by Votes
Observation: Out of the total of 1000 listed series, these are the ten series
with highest votes. Wherein, series The Shawshank Redemption earned the
maximum votes of approx. 2.3 million followed by The Matrix.
Conclusion: Among these movies, maximum of them is of Genre Action,
Adventure and Drama. We can conclude that movies of this genre are more
liked by the audience.

10. Graph 4: Top 10 Directors by Meta Score of Titles directed
Observation: This graph shows the top 10 Directors who directed the
movies that earned highest Meta score. Peter Jackson is among the top
who has directed only 5 movies, out of which 3 of them got the score
greater than 85.
Conclusion: Most of the movies are of Action and Drama and are the
sequel of the main movies.

11. IMDB vs Netflix Analysis
Graph 1: Top 10 Directors by maximum movies/series
Observation: From the above graphs, we have Directors Steven
Spielberg and Martin Scorsese who has titles listed in IMDB are also
published on Netflix with the numbers among the top 10 in terms of
titles count.
Conclusion: Among the directors with highest movies count, Netflix
has only few of them published hence has more opportunity in
future to focus on getting other titles published on the platform.

12. Graph 2: Titles by Released Year
Observation: The graphs show that out of the total movies listed in
IMDB from the 1920 to 2020, there are very few of them published
on Netflix. Number is seen to be increased from the year 2000 with
highest in 2018.
Conclusion: Netflix is more into launching web series which includes
more of those produced and commissioned in-house by Netflix
production crews themselves.

13. Graph 3: Movies by Runtime
Observation: Maximum number of movies listed on IMDB are of 100
minutes followed by movies of 130 min. However, in Netflix
maximum movies lasts for 90 min.
Conclusion: This shows that youth prefer movies of shorter duration
by seeing the Netflix data.
