Overcoming Motivational Barriers
NAME: Jose Bustillo
What motivational obstacles do you have—and how do you overcome them?
Which of the following create problems for you?
Attitude
Mental paralysis
X Commitment
X Getting in your own way
Working with a classmate, come up with at least one strategy to conquer each of the above
obstacles. Write your strategies under each obstacles.
AttitudeYou must always use the right attitude when attempting and approaching problems and
obstacles. The attitude that you have when doing something reflects a lot in your results.
Mental paralysisIs always good to practice and review what you learn and what you read so that
your ideas can always run fluently through your head as you speak or even take an important test. You
don’t want to let this information fade and experience mental paralysis.
CommitmentAlways manage your time so that you can always do things before they’re due. Know
due dates at least one week in advance so that you can always have them done on time. Use a
calendar if necessary to help you organize your time and tasks.
Getting in your own wayA lot of times people want to get things done their way because their
experience or simply because they already know how to do it or at least think so. But sometimes when
you want to get somewhere you must go through steps that you’ve never taken before so it’s always
important to be open minded and listen to new ways.
