- Traditional tool integration approaches have been limited and created vendor lock-in, while universal standards have been too slow and disruptive to adopt.
- The Open Services for Lifecycle Collaboration (OSLC) is a new approach that uses open web standards and linked data principles to enable tools from different vendors to integrate using open APIs and share information.
- The OSLC specifications are developed openly by a community of over 300 individuals from over 30 companies, aiming to provide flexible, incremental integration that lowers barriers to participation.
How to design for adoption - Dachis Group 3M Social Business SymposiumGia Lyons
I presented this as the Dachis Group 3M Social Business Symposium on July 22, 2011. It's practically the same as my Burton Group presentation, with with a few updates. Information in this presentation is based on Jive Software's Strategy Consulting Method for social platform adoption.
This presentation provides an overview of the Innovation Model adopted for OpenSplice DDS and then goes on presenting the standardization and development Roadmap as well as the set of Technology Incubators that we are trying to sparkle around OpenSplice DDS.
What is a SOA project? Do these projects exist in real life? This session gives an overview about different types of real world projects based on the Oracle SOA infrastructure, which could be labeled "SOA." You will learn about different requirements answered with different architectures and tools from the Oracle SOA-Palette, including a view on what's possible and what made sense. Discussion will include SOA, BPM, and EAI topics, as well as components like mediator, OSB, BPEL PM, BPM studio, Rules, EDN, and BAM. Even PL/SQL, APEX, and ADF find their place in an SOA-world.

Development teams are challenged to deliver more content with less time and with greater agility. In some cases, Lines of Businesses are examining alternative strategies involving a mixture of public and private cloud to deliver their business applications. Sometimes, the need for speed leads to bad decision making and the adoption of non-compliant technologies. These "shadow ops" activities may not meet the compliance and standards set by your organization. You can discourage these practices by improving your responsiveness to the needs of development. Come learn about how Continuous Delivery technology from Rational & Tivoli can help you defeat Shadow Ops by providing a better alternative!

Kristiaan De Roeck at UX Antwerp Meetup - 30 January 2018UX Antwerp Meetup
UX Antwerp Meetup, 30th of January, 2018 - organised by UXprobe https://www.uxpro.be/

"How IOT, Cloud and Cognitive technology interconnect "
This talk positions "cloud", Internet of Things (IOT) and data analysis to each other. After generating massive amounts of information from the IOT, data is collected, stored and formatted in the Cloud. Then, based on Cognitive technology, data is analyzed with the goal of showing some unexpected outcome. This analysis can be used for any UX-oriented development, and generate insights for new UX perspectives. Kristiaan will describe some case studies; each of the subjects' first "stand alone" analysis, then combined in a bigger context to understand their dependencies.
Bio: Kristiaan De Roeck is a senior IT architect and consultant with 36 years of experienced in solution design, system architecture, information management, service management, and digital transformation projects. Kristiaan works for IBM.
Building a Platform for the People - IBM's Open Cloud Architecture Summit - A...Chip Childers
A talk for the IBM Open Cloud Architecture Summit event in Atlanta in September 2015, discussing the "why" behind the Cloud Foundry platform and movement.
Open Source is now in day to day use in Governments across Europe – some with great success, but others are still using it to a degree well below its opportunity level. But why is this? Is it because of lack of understanding or trust, is it because of lack of political will or leadership, is it because it is just too difficult because of past technical decisions? Or all of these?
Are the blockers to progress technical, financial or political? Or all of these?
A new report to be published by the London School of Economics for the UK Government, and which will be previewed during the talk, examines the TCO of Open Source for Government, but also examines the wider drivers and opportunities. Maybe here are the clues on just how we can increase the momentum for its use across Government.
Transforming Software Architecture for the 21st Century (September 2009)Dion Hinchcliffe
Evolving an important theme I've been working on and presenting all year, this new deck summarizes how enterprise architecture and large scale technology-based business solutions must transform to be more effective in the 21st century.
Contains material on a hypothesis for what's wrong with today's EA as well as potential solutions of merit such as emergent architecture, WOA, enterprise REST, open supply chains (APIs), mashups, and other models.
Presented this week in Oslo Norway to Bouvet's enterprise architecture council.
Microservices architecture is garnering attention as a modern pattern for building application that scale well, deploy often, have better fault tolerance and can be built out of multiple technologies. We will go through the advantages and drawbacks of going Microservices way and when the pattern is a good fit. We will also touch on Docker, yet another buzzword, strongly emerging as a Microservices delivery mechanism for Linux based systems. If you are looking to refactor your monolithic application, to build a new cloud native application or simply to get your geek on this session is for you.
Presented to Southern California Software Process Improvement Network, July 2011
As 'the cloud' becomes the mainstream platform for IT innovation, platform architects will combine smart devices, global networks, and application models inspired by Twitter and Facebook to let people do what they do best: to recognize what’s not normal, and either address the problem or pursue the opportunity.
The first decade of cloud computing decisively demonstrated that massively sharable/scalable systems can shrink operating costs and slash development delays, but the era of the Social Enterprise goes farther to turn the cloud model from a perceived challenge into a compelling avenue for IT innovations that need not compromise security or governance.
