2. Descrierea dispozitivului:
Acest dispozitiv a fost menționat de Duffing in 1918;
Constă dintr-o bandă foarte subțire și ușoara din oțel fixată de un suport la
ambele capete. În vecinătatea mijlocului benzii se află un electromagnet
alimentat cu un curent alternativ;
Acesta va produce un câmp magnetic(~Acos ωt) care va excita oscilații ale
benzii.
Deplasarea instantanee x a punctului de la mijlocul benzii în raport cu locul
de echilibru este una din variabilele pe care trebuie să le luăm în
considerație. Forța de revenire care apare în bandă la deformarea ei este
proporțională cu cubul deplasării.
Sistemul este disipativ datorită frecării cu aerul, iar pierderea de energie
sub formă de căldura este compensată prin aportul electromagnetului care
excită vibrațiile.
4. Parametrii care pot fi modificați:
Dacă frecvența curentului alternativ care străbate bobina electromagnetului este
fixată, parametrul care poate fi modificat este doar amplitudinea acestuia,
proporțională cu intensitatea câmpului magnetic pe care il produce.
Un alt parametru care poate fi modificat este cel care dă măsură pierderii de energie
– coeficintul de disipare(C).
În cazul oscilațiilor forțate ale pendulului simplu, în spațiul fazelor, se obținea un
atractor aproape elipsoidal (figura) dacă disiparea de energie și, respectiv,
contribuția forței exterioare pe un ciclu aveau valori mici. În cazul oscilatorului Duffing
se observă de asemenea un ciclu limită care are o formă ceva mai complicată.
Modelarea numerică, pentru diferite valori ale parametriilor menționați, duce la
situațiile prezentate în figură.
5. Figură. Poziția în funcție de timp și evoluția în spațiu a fazelor pentru:
a) x0=1, 𝜐0=1, ω = 1,4, 𝐴 = 0,2, 𝐶 = 0,3;
b) x0=1, 𝜐0=1, ω = 1,2, 𝐴 = 0,28, 𝐶 = 0,3;

6. Ecuația care descrie evoluția sistemului
Condițiile inițiale în care evoluează sistemul vor fi determinate dacă sunt precizate
poziția inițială a mijlocului benzii față de punctul de echilibru si viteza lui inițială.

7. Atractor haotic care caracterizează
oscilatorul Duffing

În exemplele prezentate, ordinul de periodicitate al atractorului se modifică în funcție de
raportul dintre amplitudinea factorului excitator și valoarea factorului de disipare:pentru
valori mai mari tinde să devină unul straniu caracteristic mișcării haotice.
8. Secțiunea Pointcaré
Bazându-se pe caracterul unghiular al variabilei φ, vom realiza tăieturi ale traiectoriei
din spațiul tridimensional, de-a lungul axei corespunzătoare variabilei φ, prin plane
perpendiculare pe axă, la valori care reflectă periodicitatea: 0, 2π, 4π etc.Punctele
de intersecție ale traiectoriei cu acete plane se vor proiectape planul de coordonate
θ, θ’). Se obține astfel o reprezentare bidimensională numită secțiunea Pointcaré.
9. Atractorul straniu
Un Atractor straniu este o regiune limitată a reprezentării Pointcaré în care se
acumulează, fără a se intersecta, traiectoriile reprezentative din spațiulfazelor pentru
un sistem disipativ care evolueză si cu aport extern de energie din partea unui factor
excitator și care are cel putin trei grade de libertate în spațiul fazelor, precum și o
mare sensibilitate la condițiile inițiale, efectuând o mișcare haotică.
