Cons of Orkut? Bad impact on the Indian society  Too much competition (Facebook, Myspace)  Information overload  Hard to tell if people are lying  Misused to promote hate crimes

  1. O]rkut is unique, because it's an organically growing network of trusted friends. That way they won't grow too large, too quickly and everyone will have at least one person to vouch for them.If you know someone who is a member of orkut, that person can invite you to join as well
  2. Although orkut is less popular in the United States than competitors Facebook and MySpace, it is one of the most visited websites in India and Brazil. As of July 2011, 58.1% of orkut's users are from Brazil, followed by India with 32% and Japan with 2%. Orkuts original target market was to the US, but the majority of its users are in India and Brazil . Orkut is the most viewed site in Brazil and the second in India
  3. In one case a BBM student from Mumbai made a fake profile of a girl he knew with her photograph and cell phone number along with more details. The profile was sketched in such a way that would draw lewd comments from many who visited her profile. Though he was nabbed one can easily, imagine the turmoil the girl had to go through.
