EVANGELISM 101: Lesson 1 - Biblical Foundations of EvangelismFrancis Hernandez
For “everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” How then will they call on him in whom they have not believed? And how are they to believe in him of whom they have never heard? And how are they to hear without someone preaching? And how are they to preach unless they are sent? As it is written, “How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the good news!” (Romans 10:13-15)
"It (Evangelism) comes from the same Greek word for gospel (euangelion) and means, literally, “gospeling.” When we evangelize we are “gospeling” — we are spreading the Gospel of Jesus Christ." - https://www.ligonier.org/learn/devotionals/what-evangelism/
Every Christian is called to do the divine task of evangelism. Evangelism is a task not just for the select churches, or for the evangelists or pastors. This is Lesson 1 of EVANGELISM 101 Series. Given last April 23, 2021 at HOPE Christian Fellowship in Guinobatan, Calapan City, Oriental Mindoro, Philippines by Ptr. Francis S. Hernandez.

HANUMAN STORIES: TIMELESS TEACHINGS FOR TODAY’S WORLDLearnyoga
Hanuman Stories: Timeless Teachings for Today’s World" delves into the inspiring tales of Hanuman, highlighting lessons of devotion, strength, and selfless service that resonate in modern life. These stories illustrate how Hanuman's unwavering faith and courage can guide us through challenges and foster resilience. Through these timeless narratives, readers can find profound wisdom to apply in their daily lives.
In Jude 17-23 Jude shifts from piling up examples of false teachers from the Old Testament to a series of practical exhortations that flow from apostolic instruction. He preserves for us what may well have been part of the apostolic catechism for the first generation of Christ-followers. In these instructions Jude exhorts the believer to deal with 3 different groups of people: scoffers who are "devoid of the Spirit", believers who have come under the influence of scoffers and believers who are so entrenched in false teaching that they need rescue and pose some real spiritual risk for the rescuer. In all of this Jude emphasizes Jesus' call to rescue straying sheep, leaving the 99 safely behind and pursuing the 1.

2. LITURGY
- a public worship – the work of Christ and that of the
Church, the Body of Christ. By virtue of our
participation in Christ's work as members of the Body,
we also participate in the divine life of the Trinity, an
eternal exchange of love between the Father, Son, and
Holy Spirit.
- Summit toward which the activity of the Church is
directed; at the same time it is the font from which all
her power flows (SC 10)
- Goal: glorification of God and sanctification of the
faithful (cf SC 10)
3. MINISTRY
• service of God, who is glorified by the loving service given to
others
• authorization by the Church’s hierarchy . . . this authorization
may require institution/ordination . . .
• based on the teaching of Christ, who showed by word and
example how to minister to people’s spiritual and temporal
needs;
• under the guidance of the Church in accordance with her
directives and decrees.
4. LITURGICAL MINISTRIES
Lay Liturgical Ministers exercise a “genuine
liturgical function. They ought, therefore, to
perform their roles with the sincere piety and
decorum demanded by so exalted ministries and
rightly expected of them by God's people” (CSL
29).
5. PRIEST
- a priest is given a sacred power to
serve God's people, to lead them to
union with God. He does this
principally by teaching the people,
shepherding them through
leadership, offering pastoral care
and spiritual guidance and
sanctifying them through the
Sacraments (CCC 1592)
6. DEACON
- deacon's ministry has three
dimensions: liturgy, word and
service. At the liturgy, he assists
the bishop and priests. At the
Mass, the deacon proclaims the
Gospel, may be invited to preach
the homily, and assists at the
altar.
7. LECTORS
The lector is instituted to proclaim
the readings from Sacred Scripture,
with the exception of the Gospel. He
may also announce the intentions
for the Prayer of the Faithful and, in
the absence of a psalmist, proclaim
the Psalm between the readings.
(GIRM 99)
8. EUCHARISTIC MINISTERS OF HOLY COMMUNION
Eucharistic Minister is a
parishioner, selected by the Pastor
and mandated by the Bishop,
who serves, distributes, and
administers the Body and Blood
of Jesus Christ during the Holy
Communion or Eucharist of the
Church Service.
9. CHOIR/CANTORS
Cantors serve as the song leaders
during the celebration of the eucharist,
and, most importantly, proclaim the
psalm during Mass. Church choirs on
the other hand lead the people in
singing so that the people can take
part confidently in the liturgical
celebration.
10. USHERS
Ushers do much more than
just seat people, take up
the collection, and stand
watch in case of
emergency. They are the
"open doors" to fellow
worshipers; they welcome
each new arrival and point
them towards Christ.
11. ALTAR SERVERS
An altar server is a lay assistant to
a member of the clergy during a
Christian liturgy. An altar server
attends to supporting tasks at the
altar such as fetching and carrying,
ringing the altar bell, helping bring
up the gifts, and bringing up the
book
13. - the place where the
altar stands, where the
Word of God is
proclaimed, and where
the Priest, the Deacon,
and the other ministers
exercise their offices.
14. ALTAR TABLE
- the place for the central
sacrifice where the Eucharistic
enacted.
- central to the liturgical
celebration and should be the
cynosure of all eyes during
Eucharistic celebrations.
16. CREDENCE TABLE
- small table placed within
the sanctuary of a church and
near the wall at the Epistle
side, for the purpose of
holding the cruets, acolytes'
candles, and other utensils
required for the celebration
of the Holy Sacrifice.
17. SACRISTY
- room in a Catholic
church where
religious objects used
during rituals like
Holy Communion are
stored.
sacristy

21. LITURGICAL BOOKS

collection of scripture readings
appointed for Christian or Jewish
worship on a given day or
occasion.
It is carried in the procession by
the lector and placed in the
ambo.
22. MAG-AMBAHAN KITA
- contains all parts of the
Mass, a Cebuano booklet
designed and compiled in
a month long liturgical
celebrations, including
instructions on when to
stand, sit, or kneel.
23. MISSALETTE
– contains all parts of the Mass
for a specific occasion in the
liturgical year, including
instructions on when to stand,
sit, or kneel. They help the
congregation participate fully in
the liturgy.

37. BELL
- little before the
Consecration, if
appropriate, a minister
rings a small bell as a
signal to the faithful
39. GENUFLECTION
Adoration of Jesus is expressed by the
genuflection. Because this supreme act of
reverence in our Rite, genuflecting is reserved:
• for Our Lord present in the Eucharist in the altar,
in the tabernacle, monstrance or pyx.
• for his Holy Cross from its solemn veneration
during the Good Friday liturgy until the Easter
Vigil begins.
• for a relic of His Holy Cross exposed in
veneration
40. BOW
There are two bows in the modern Roman Rite:
a. The bow of the body, or deep bow,
• A bow of the body is made to the altar when
the Blessed Sacrament is not on or behind the
celebrant, before and after an incensation and
when it is specified in various rites.
b. the bow of the head.
• Is made when the three Divine Persons are
mentioned aloud (names of saints).
• Also expresses mutual respect and gratitude
before and after receiving an object or being
assisted in some way during a ceremony.
