Lilly Klein was a 17-year-old Jewish girl living in Hungary when the Germans invaded and began deporting Jews to concentration camps. She described how everything changed as they lived in constant fear of being taken away. Lilly and her family were eventually rounded up and placed in a crowded ghetto for two months before she was sent to Auschwitz. However, the train tracks to Auschwitz had been bombed by the Allies, so she was instead sent to Strasshoff concentration camp in Austria where conditions were dire and many died from overwork and lack of food. Lilly survived as a victim until the camp was liberated in April 1945.
