 ORCID (Open Researcher and Contributor ID) is a type of author identifier.
 ORCID ID was introduced in 16 October 2012.
 ORCID provides a persistent digital identifier that distinguishes you from other
researchers and supports automated linkages between you and your research activities.
 For example, funding organizations, such as ARC, NHMRC, are requesting ORCID ID in grant
submissions; publishers are requesting ORCID IDs during manuscript submissions.
 Use your ORCID ID when you apply for grants, submit publications, for PDRs.
 Include your ORCID ID in your email signature. ORCID recommends that IDs be displayed as
URI with hyphens between every 4th digit, as such: http://orcid.org/0000-0001-9289-9495

 Researcher ID was introduced in January 2008.
 Researcher ID is a unique identifier to enable researcher to manage their publication lists,
track citation and h-index, identify potential collaborators and avoid author misidentification.
In addition, data associated with a Researcher ID can be exchanged with ORCID.
 Researchers can use Researcher ID to claim their published works and link their unique and
persistent Researcher ID number to these works for correct attribution. In this way, they can also
keep their publication list up to date and online.
 In April 2019, Researcher ID was integrated with Publons.
