Oracle Cloud Infrastructure – IAM
• The Oracle Bare Metal Cloud Identity and Access Management Service (IAM) lets you control who
the access to your cloud resources. You can control what type of access a group of users have
and to which specific resources.

Backing up the database
• Backing Up to Object Storage
– Create an Object Storage bucket for the backups, generate a password for the service, install the Oracle
Database Cloud Backup Module, and then configure RMAN to send backups to the service
– Backup module is typically used to back up to the Oracle Database Backup Cloud Service, which is an
OpenStack Swift object store
– The DB System's cloud network (VCN) must be configured with an Internet Gateway
– Instead of installing the backup module and using RMAN for backups on a 1-node DB System, you can use
the dbcli command line interface to back up to Object Storage.
– Standalone backups
Note: Currently, Oracle Cloud Infrastructure does not provide the ability to attach block storage volumes to a
DB System, so you cannot back up to network attached volumes.
