Second grade students will learn math topics including patterns, numbers up to 1,000, addition, subtraction, length, weight, capacity, money, fractions, time, graphs, geometry, area, and word problems. They will study reading comprehension, vocabulary, phonemic awareness, and literature. Students will have spelling tests weekly and learn writing skills through the six trait model. Science units will cover animals, weather, dinosaurs, sound, and the ocean. Social studies will focus on history, geography, civics, government, and economics. Homework will be sent home on Mondays and due on Fridays, along with weekly spelling assignments.
