13. What else do you need to know?
Do I have to have a roommate?
No. Please try your best to find a roommate. But if you have not found a roommate, you will be
matched up with a roommate according to the questions that you answered about yourself in
while completing the first step in the housing application process. If you do not wish to have a
roommate, you can request to be placed on a Single Room (if available), or you have the option
of buying out your room. This means paying double for your housing. Please keep in mind that
if you choose to live in a single, you will be billed at a higher rate.
All housing assignments are for the entire academic year, Fall and Spring Semesters.
14. But, I have more questions…
What type of housing is available for freshman to live in on-campus at ONU?
In order to view the housing profiles please go to:
http://www.onu.edu/student_life/residence_life/housing_profiles
15. Almost done…
I will be a Freshman and my friend will be a Sophomore and we have selected to be roommates.
Will I be able to live with him/her in sophomore housing on-campus at ONU?
Yes. If you and a friend select and confirm to be roommates, then you will be placed in
Freshman housing.
I am studying abroad/doing a co-op/internship for a semester. What housing should I select?
If you are planning on being in a co-op position, then you will need to communicate with the
Office of Residence Life regarding your intentions. If you choose a housing assignment, then
you will forfeit your selection to The Office of Residence Life, you are not allowed to give your
room to another student.
16. One last question…
What are the chances that I will get the room that I want?
Freshman room selections are generated by our computer program based on gender and roommate matching.
THERE WILL BE NO ROOM CHANGES ONCE YOU CHOOSE YOUR HOUSING
ASSIGNMENT FOR THE 2015-2016 ACADEMIC YEAR.
THERE IS A STRICT HOUSING FREEZE UNTIL 2 WEEKS AFTER THE START OF
FALL SEMESTER 2015-2016.
