The document provides information about Basque athletes competing in the Olympics and their situation.
1) Basque athletes are not allowed to compete for the Basque national team and must instead compete for Spain or France. The Basque Country football team is considered the unofficial national team but is not affiliated with FIFA or UEFA.
2) Several Basque sports are mentioned, including pelota which was a demonstration sport in past Olympics. Surfing and football players also want to compete for an official Basque team.
3) Biographies are given for two Basque athletes, Naroa Agirre and Paul de la Cuesta, competing in track and field and skiing respectively.

Cultural Heritage domain has opened up to contributions from the users on the web. The contributions are mainly in the form of tags which describe certain aspect of the cultural heritage object. With a wide range of users on the web, it becomes important to determine the quality of the user contributed content before it is published online. However, manually evaluating the quality of these user generated contributions is exhausting in terms of resources for the Cultural Heritage institutions. In this talk, I will describe methods which can semi-automatically predict the quality of tags. These methods address three research questions: How can we trust an online contributor?, How can we assess the quality of annotation process?, How can we trust the contributed data?.

Ted Prodromou shares the story of how he filled his client pipeline in less than 30 days by spending less than 30 minutes a day on LinkedIn answering questions and helping people. From the July 2013 Bay Area Consultants Network (BACN) meeting in San Rafael, CA.
The National Corporate Sponsorship Program was established to develop formal alliances that involve Corporate America more closely with BDPA programs, activities and goals. Corporate sponsors not only offer financial support but also participate in programs developed to enhance the technical and professional skills of the community. The investment in BDPA creates positive exposure to a technically diverse membership of African-American Information Technology professionals and students.
The program is designed to offer corporations an opportunity to partner with BDPA to meet corporate goals and objectives for recruiting, employee development, philanthropic endeavors and enhanced image in the African American Community. The program is open to all corporations with a sincere interest in pursuing the vision, mission, objectives and goals of BDPA.
The conceptual and fundamental scope of the program is to:
• Link BDPA strategic initiatives to the objectives of the corporation
• Document mutual understanding, measurements and goals
• Develop plans, assign resources and confirm milestones for viewing progress toward the goals
• Provide a forum to interact with other IT and HR industry leaders and professionals
• Increase exposure opportunities to technically competent and diverse IT professionals and students
• Enhance loyalty in the corporation amongst employees and customers
In order to pull together all the components of a successful program, BDPA partners with corporations, associations and other strategic alliance partners, but by far, corporate support is a major component of BDPA’s success. A Strategic Approach: GenAI in EducationPeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.

June 3, 2024 Anti-Semitism Letter Sent to MIT President Kornbluth and MIT Cor...Levi Shapiro
Letter from the Congress of the United States regarding Anti-Semitism sent June 3rd to MIT President Sally Kornbluth, MIT Corp Chair, Mark Gorenberg
Dear Dr. Kornbluth and Mr. Gorenberg,
The US House of Representatives is deeply concerned by ongoing and pervasive acts of antisemitic
harassment and intimidation at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Failing to act decisively to ensure a safe learning environment for all students would be a grave dereliction of your responsibilities as President of MIT and Chair of the MIT Corporation.
This Congress will not stand idly by and allow an environment hostile to Jewish students to persist. The House believes that your institution is in violation of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, and the inability or
unwillingness to rectify this violation through action requires accountability.
Postsecondary education is a unique opportunity for students to learn and have their ideas and beliefs challenged. However, universities receiving hundreds of millions of federal funds annually have denied
students that opportunity and have been hijacked to become venues for the promotion of terrorism, antisemitic harassment and intimidation, unlawful encampments, and in some cases, assaults and riots.
The House of Representatives will not countenance the use of federal funds to indoctrinate students into hateful, antisemitic, anti-American supporters of terrorism. Investigations into campus antisemitism by the Committee on Education and the Workforce and the Committee on Ways and Means have been expanded into a Congress-wide probe across all relevant jurisdictions to address this national crisis. The undersigned Committees will conduct oversight into the use of federal funds at MIT and its learning environment under authorities granted to each Committee.
• The Committee on Education and the Workforce has been investigating your institution since December 7, 2023. The Committee has broad jurisdiction over postsecondary education, including its compliance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, campus safety concerns over disruptions to the learning environment, and the awarding of federal student aid under the Higher Education Act.
• The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is investigating the sources of funding and other support flowing to groups espousing pro-Hamas propaganda and engaged in antisemitic harassment and intimidation of students. The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is the principal oversight committee of the US House of Representatives and has broad authority to investigate “any matter” at “any time” under House Rule X.
• The Committee on Ways and Means has been investigating several universities since November 15, 2023, when the Committee held a hearing entitled From Ivory Towers to Dark Corners: Investigating the Nexus Between Antisemitism, Tax-Exempt Universities, and Terror Financing. The Committee followed the hearing with letters to those institutions on January 10, 202

PELOTA.
Basque Pelota was a demonstration sport at the 1968 Summer Olympics in Mexico City. It was
the third time that the sport was included in the Olympic program; it was an official Olympic
sport at the 1900 Games in Paris, and a demonstration sport in 1924. It was included as a
demonstration sport once again at the 1992 Games in Barcelona. Basque Pelota has only once
been officially competed for at the Olympics in 1900. At the 1900 Summer Olympics, a Basque
pelota tournament was contested. Only two teams competed, so only one match was played.
The score is unknown. The competition was held on 14 June.

6. Volunteers are called London 2012 Games Makers
Volunteers have been integral to both Summer and Winter Olympic and
Paralympic Games since they were used for the first time at London 1948.
In each competition million of volunteers make it happen the Olympic and
Paralympic Games.
Games Makers’ Role
There are 32 teams, functional areas or FAs that need Games
Makers.
Each team needs a different number of Games Makers – some
require fewer than 50 while others need a few thousand. Most
roles will be Games-time specific, but some will require volunteers
to be available from spring 2012 for pre-Games preparation
Volunteers needed in different places
Most of London 2012 volunteers will be needed during the Games,
but some of them will be Trailblazers, they will be needed in the
run-up to the Games.
Over 400 Trailblazers have been recruited since January 2009. Each Trailblazer volunteers one
day a week for a minimum of four months, performing a wide range of administrative duties.
Trailblazers must:
be aged 18 years old or over by 1 January 2011;
have good written and verbal English;
have excellent communication skills;
be able to volunteer for one shift a week for a minimum of three months;
be eligible to volunteer within the UK in accordance with immigrations rules; and
sign both a confidentiality agreement and a letter of agreement.
6
7. A London Ambassador
Being a Games Maker is just one way to volunteer at Games time - the Mayor of London is
running a separate programme during the summer of 2012.
London Ambassadors will be the face of today's London and they will come from different
backgrounds and communities and different ages: students, workers, out of work, looking to
return to work, or retired, 16 or 60.
The minimum age for London Ambassadors is 16 (born on or before 1 January 1996).
Our likes and dislikes
When we watch sports on TV, we always watch football and basketball.
We like a lot basketball and we have a team with ours friends. We have two
training sessions a week and we play basketball matches on Saturdays.
Kayaking
We like kayaking. Maialen Chourraut is an athlete that does kayaking and who
is going to go to London Olympic games.
Maialen Chourraut (Donostia, 8 March 1983)
She has on her memory her experience in Pekin. She finished 16th.
However, Maialen says that the London meeting is very different. The interval
between 2004 and 2008 was complicated for this young girl who is 28. She is
more confident now. She had two injuries of her shoulder and two operations.
She was silver in the world championship 2009 in la Seu d'Urgell (Lérida),
where she trains now and she was bronze in Barcelona. In Bratislava, in 2010,
she won the gold in the World Cup. She is an optimistic person. She said that
these Olympic games are going to be very good.
She spends 24 hours a day thinking about kayaking. She goes to the gym.
She has also done the channel of Lee Valley White Water Centrey, which is
almost 50 kilometers, where she trained in December, and she will travel
several times before the opening of games on 30 July. London will be a good
7
8. place to get acclimatized. Now her physical condition is also different. She is
enthusiastic about the games. She said that she has to work hard but she is
motivated.
Olympic message
The most important thing in the Olympic Games is not
to win but to take part, just as the most important thing
in life is not the triumph but the struggle. The essential
thing is not to have conquered but to have fought well."
In the Olympic games as in each kind of sports, the most
important thing is not to win, the important things is to
participate and have fun. Many people don’t know it;
we think that if you are a really sportman or
sportwoman you must know it.
If you win something it is great. You get very proud of
yourself, but if you lose, you can’t get angry and be sad.
You have taken part and enjoyed it.
