1. The NSSP is a Special Program of the Royal Rangers
that supports the mission and purpose of Royal
Rangers while promoting a safe and rewarding
shooting sports experience for all.

2. The National Championships program provides boys and
leaders the opportunity to compete in competitions
with other rangers all across the country. Any Royal Rangers
leader or boy may participate. Results are tabulated each
year and winners receive a special certificate in recognition of
their accomplishments.

3. BB Gun
 Firing Dates: Jan 1 – Oct 31 (entries received by Nov 15)
 Eligibility: Once per year / OP must be chartered
 Fees: $5 per individual / $15 per team (4 members per team)
 Categories: Ages 8-15
 Awards: 1st – 3rd in all individual and team categories
 Rules: NRA BB gun rules
 Equipment: Daisy® Avanti 499 series BB gun
 Targets: NRA certified AR-4/10-5 meter targets
 Course of Fire: 10 shots (prone, standing, kneeling)

4. 3-P Sporter Air Rifle
 Firing Dates: Jan 1 – Oct 31 (entries received by Nov 15)
 Eligibility: Once per year / OP must be chartered
 Fees: $5 per individual / $15 per team (4 members per team)
 Categories: Sub-Junior (ages 13 and below)
Intermediate-Junior (ages 14-15)
Junior (ages 16-17)
 Awards: 1st – 3rd in all individual and team categories
 Rules: NRA Sporter Air Rifle Position Rulebook
 Equipment: Sporter air rifle (compressed air or CO2)
 Targets: NRA certified AR-5/10 meter targets
 Course of Fire: 10 shots (prone, standing, kneeling)

5. Archery
 Firing Dates: Jan 1 – Oct 31 (entries received by Nov 15)
 Eligibility: Once per year per division / chartered OP
 Fees: $5 per individual per division (compound / traditional)
 Categories: Ages 8-17 and adults (18+)
 Awards: 1st – 3rd in both divisions
 Rules: Match Rules (Postal Archery Tournament Scoring Form)
 Equipment: Genesis® compound bow, Easton 1820
Genesis Arrows, SKY Archery® (recurve and longbows)
 Targets: 80 cm FITA-face, five color ten-ring at 15 yds
 Course of Fire: 6 ends of 5 arrows each (300 possible points)

6. 3-P Smallbore Light Rifle
 Firing Dates: Jan 1 – Oct 31 (entries received by Nov 15)
 Eligibility: Once per year / OP must be chartered
 Fees: $5 per individual / $15 per team (4 members per team)
 Categories: Junior (ages 14-15)
Senior (ages 16-17)
Adult (ages 18+)
 Awards: 1st – 3rd in all individual and team categories
 Rules: NRA Smallbore Rifle Rulebook
 Equipment: .22 cal (rim fire, short, long or long rifle) with metallic
sights
 Targets: NRA certified A-17 target
 Course of Fire: 10 shots (prone, standing, kneeling) at 50 ft

7. Trapshooting
 Firing Dates: Jan 1 – Oct 31 (entries received by Nov 15)
 Eligibility: Once per year / OP must be chartered
 Fees: $5 per individual / $15 per team (4 members per team)
 Categories: Junior (ages 14-15)
Senior (ages 16-17)
Adult (ages 18+)
 Awards: 1st – 3rd place in all three categories
 Rules: Amateur Trapshooting Association (ATA) Rules
 Equipment: Shotgun, 12 gauge or smaller
 Targets: Standard clay targets
 Course of Fire: 16 yard singles, 50 targets

8. Black Powder Rifle
 Fees: $5 per individual / $15 per team (4 members per team)
 Categories: Sub-Junior (ages 11-13) Junior (ages 14-15)
Senior (ages 16-17) Adult (ages 18+)
 Awards: 1st – 3rd place in all individual / team categories
 Rules: NRA Muzzle Loading Rifle, Pistol, & Shotgun

patched round balls
 Targets: NRA certified B-19 target
 Course of Fire: 5 record shots at 25 yds in the standing position
5 record shots at 50 yds in the kneeling position

9. Annual Championship Events

 First weekend in July every year in Rogers, AR

14. Spring Shooting Sports Camp
 Open to 3rd-12th grades
 Dates: 3rd week in March every year Thur-Sun
 Location: Camp Adventure
 Cost: $50
Shooting Sports Camp is for those who wish to learn about shooting sports. You
will learn firearm safety and marksmanship skills. There are four tracks to
choose from. Archery (3rd-12th grade), BB Gun (3rd-5th grade), Air Rifle (6th-12th
grade), Black Powder Rifle (6th-12th grade who have met prerequisite
requirements). They will also learn the process for participating in the Royal
Ranger Postal Shooting Events and the NRA/Winchester Marksmanship
Program

15. Shooting Sports Action Camp
Shooting Sports Action Camp (SSAC) is for those who wish to learn about
shooting sports. You will learn more advanced shooting in the Shotgun and
Smallbore Rifle disciplines, earning Smallbore Safety, Smallbore Shooting,
Shotgun Safety and Shotgun Shooting merits. You will also participate in NRA
sanctioned Postal Matches. You will also learn the process for participating in
the NRA/Winchester Marksmanship Program.
