Round 2 strategic areas
Round 3 proposed areas Trident Energy – embarking on a year-long sea trial off the
East of England coast. Trident has developed a new and patented system
to convert wave energy directly into electricity. The company is working
with the University of Cambridge to optimise the system for the specific
wave conditions that exist at the East coast offshore site.
Project Deepwater Turbine – with collaborators including the

East of England’s Centre for Environment, Fisheries and Aquaculture

technology which can differentiate between the movement of turbine
blades and other objects, reducing conflict with air traffic control and
defence requirements which have previously restricted wind farm sites.
