Officer Johnson, from the Centervale Police Department, visits the family you met in Module 1 and notices Lucy crying in the kitchen; she reveals a bruised cheek when she finishes drying her eyes. What Had Happened: Over the weekend, Lucy organized a sleepover for a friend who was interested in making some money. Rob tried to molest and rape her. Lucy's friend resisted, and Rob struck the girl. She fell from the bed and hit her head on the floor. Rob quickly carried her outside and placed her in the trunk of the car. He took her to an abandoned shed on the outskirts of the town and tied her up. Later, Rob returned and realized that although he had thought the girl was knocked out, she had actually died when she hit the floor. Junior notes, "It's not like dad planned to kill her. She just wanted to fight; so he had to control her." At Present: Officer Johnson contacts social services as a juvenile was assaulted. The children are taken from their home for interrogation. parking lot with the intent of robbing him of money. Prior to committing the crime,
Bill and the accomplice used alcohol, PCP, and marijuana. At some point during
the robbery, Andy was fatally shot in the neck. Bill and James attempted to cover
up the crime by siphoning gasoline from a car’s gas tank, placing Andy on the
hood, and lighting the car on fire. Bill and James were apprehended after a
Fred’s Mart employee called the police and fire departments while he was
outside smoking a cigarette. Bill and James both reported that Bill provided the
weapon, but each alleged the other with shooting Andy Simpson. James Xavier,

An Arab man with a long beard gets out of the car carrying a large black package and begins walking up to his neighbor’s door. Bob realizes this man is Osama Bin Laden and he fears he is going to blow up his neighbor’s house. He grabs his gun and runs out the front door. He yells at the man firing his gun at the same time. Bob kills the man. His neighbor comes running out of the house as Bob is walking up to the man. His neighbor asked Bob what he had done. Bob said, “I just killed Osama Bin Laden! He was going to blow up your house!” Bob’s neighbor then said, “That’s not Osama Bin Laden! That is the pizza delivery man and that is the pizza I just ordered! Bob looked down and could see the Pizza Hut logo on the man’s shirt and could see a corner of the pizza box sticking out of the large black package. The man he killed was not Osama Bin Laden.

John is sitting on his couch with a gun in his hand plotting his revenge and trying to figure out what he is going to do to Superior Energy. While John is sitting on the couch, he notices a Superior Energy electric company truck pull up in front the elementary school next to his house. The two men in the Superior Energy truck get out and begin unloading some equipment. John sees this as his opportunity to teach Superior Energy a lesson. On Friday, November 22, 1963, while in a motorcade with his wife, Jacqueline, and others going through the streets of Dallas, Texas, President John F. Kennedy was assassinated. The individual captured for this murder was Lee Harvey Oswald, who was imprisoned in a Dallas jail.
Two days later, on November 24, Jack Ruby entered the basement of the jail where Oswald was in the process of being transferred to a different facility. Somehow Ruby was able to penetrate a legion of police to fatally shoot Oswald. The New York City Police Department requested the assistance of the FBI after police detectives came to an apparent dead end in their investigation of the murder and mutilation of a twenty-six-year-old woman whose body was found on the roof of a Bronx public housing apartment building where she had lived with her parents. An investigative task force of twenty-six detectives and supervisors had interviewed more than 2,000 individuals, many of whom lived or worked in the apartment building. Record checks of known sex offenders in the area were of no assistance. The police had twenty-two “good” suspects but nothing conclusive.
A fifteen-year-old boy had discovered the victim’s wallet in the stairwell as he was leaving the building on his way to school. Upon returning home from school for lunch that afternoon, the boy had given the wallet to his father, who went to the victim’s apartment to return it. The victim’s mother then called the day care center where the victim worked to notify her daughter that her wallet had been found. At that time the victim’s mother was told her daughter had not shown up for work that morning. The mother, the victim’s sister, and a neighbor then proceeded to search the building and discovered the body. The body was located at 3:00 p.m.; the victim had left her apartment at approximately 6:15 a.m.
The victim was found nude. She had been beaten about the face and strangled with the strap of her purse. The cause of death was determined to be strangulation—first manual and then ligature. The victim’s jaw and nose had been broken, and several of her teeth were loose. She had sustained several other facial fractures. Her nipples had been cut off after death and placed on her chest. There were bite marks, which were determined to have occurred after death, on her thighs. Numerous contusions and lacerations were present on her body. “You can’t stop me” was written in ink on the inside of her thigh, and “Fuck you” was written on her abdomen. A necklace pendant she usually wore was missing and presumed taken by the killer. Her underpants had been placed on her head and pulled over her face. Violence in America has become rampant and seems to be increasing (Bartol & Bartol, 2008). Many experts believe violence will continue increasing because of gangs, drugs, terrorism, availability of powerful weapons, and a growing tolerance of violence in society. Understanding the cause of violence is an ongoing challenge among mental health professionals. The classic debate is whether personality traits or social stressors predict violence (Hillebrand & Pallone, 1995). There is evidence supporting both theories. Several other cases in this book also discuss patterns of violence, such as the cases of O. J. Simpson (Chapter 1), Joseph Westbecker (Chapter 7), Jeffrey Dahmer (Chapter 8), Ted Bundy (Chapter 11), John Hinckley (Chapter 16), and, to a lesser degree, some of the other cases. Here, the focus is on the causes of violence. The first case of Jack Ruby looks at violence in general; the second case looks at the first well-documented case of a serial killer in the United States; and the third and fourth cases consider patterns of violence and abuse in the family.

On Friday, November 22, 1963, while in a motorcade with his wife, Jacqueline, and others going through the streets of Dallas, Texas, President John F. Kennedy was assassinated. The individual captured for this murder was Lee Harvey Oswald, who was imprisoned in a Dallas jail.

Somehow Ruby was able to penetrate a legion of police to fatally shoot Oswald. There are several approaches that can be taken in diagnosing Ruby’s mental status. The early years of Ruby’s life will first be presented, followed by alternative theories that focus on different facts from Ruby’s adult life (Kantor, 1978; Scott, 1994; Summers, 1980).

The New York City Police Department requested the assistance of the FBI after police detectives came to an apparent dead end in their investigation of the murder and mutilation of a twenty-six-year-old woman whose body was found on the roof of a Bronx public housing apartment building where she had lived with her parents. An investigative task force of twenty-six detectives and supervisors had interviewed more than 2,000 individuals, many of whom lived or worked in the apartment building. Record checks of known sex offenders in the area were of no assistance. The police had twenty-two “good” suspects but nothing conclusive.
A fifteen-year-old boy had discovered the victim’s wallet in the stairwell as he was leaving the building on his way to school. Upon returning home from school for lunch that afternoon, the boy had given the wallet to his father, who went to the victim’s apartment to return it. The victim’s mother then called the day care center where the victim worked to notify her daughter that her wallet had been found. At that time the victim’s mother was told her daughter had not shown up for work that morning. The mother, the victim’s sister, and a neighbor then proceeded to search the building and discovered the body. The body was located at 3:00 p.m.; the victim had left her apartment at approximately 6:15 a.m.
The victim was found nude. She had been beaten about the face and strangled with the strap of her purse. The cause of death was determined to be strangulation—first manual and then ligature. The victim’s jaw and nose had been broken, and several of her teeth were loose. She had sustained several other facial fractures. Her nipples had been cut off after death and placed on her chest. There were bite marks, which were determined to have occurred after death, on her thighs. This discussion will help you build skill in evaluating the interdependent variables that impact the value and trajectory of global leadership development programs in terms of their effectiveness in fostering deep self-awareness and growth as well as cultural intelligence and nonlinear systems thinking. Part of the evaluation will involve the sets of interdependent variables that are built into the paths that enhance skills for global leaders.
Revisit PepsiCo's leadership development program, and evaluate its capacity to foster the "leading from behind" skills ("Where Will We Find Tomorrow's Leaders?," 2008, p. 126). Look specifically at variables such as cultural intelligence, nonlinear systems thinking, self-awareness, and growth. Include answers to the following questions in your post:
Does the PepsiCo program challenge existing assumptions about what leaders should be in such a way as to empower a more self-directed and self-selected leadership development trajectory or process?
Does the program support an outside-in or an inside-out focus (imposed or self-generated)?

One of the very first cases that caught Freud’s attention when he was starting to develop his psychoanalytic theory was that of Anna O, a patient of fellow psychiatrist Josef Breuer. Although Freud did not directly treat her, he did thoroughly analyze her case as he was fascinated by the fact that her hysteria was “cured” by Breuer. It is her case that he believes was the beginning of the psychoanalytic approach.
Through your analysis of this case, you will not only look deeper into Freud’s psychoanalytic theory but also see how Jung’s neo-psychoanalytic theory compares and contrasts with Freud’s theory.

The Case of Anna O.
One of the first cases that inspired Freud in the development of what would eventually become the Psychoanalytic Theory was the case of Anna O. Anna O. was actually a patient of one of Freud’s colleagues Josef Breuer. Using Breuer’s case notes, Freud was able to analyze the key facts of Anna O’s case.
Anna O. first developed her symptoms while she was taking care of her very ill father with whom she was extremely close. Some of her initial symptoms were loss of appetite to the extent of not eating, weakness, anemia, and development a severe nervous cough. Eventually she developed a severe optic headache and lost the ability to move her head, which then progressed into paralysis of both arms. Her symptoms were not solely physical as she would vacillate between a normal, mental state and a manic-type state in which she would become extremely agitated. There was even a notation of a time for which she hallucinated that the ribbons in her hair were snakes.
Toward the end of her father’s life she stopped speaking her native language of German and instead only spoke in English. A little over a year after she began taking care of her father he passed away. After his passing her symptoms grew to affect her vision, a loss of ability to focus her attention, more extreme hallucinations, and a number of suicidal attempts (Hurst, 1982).
Both Freud and Jung would acknowledge that unconscious processes are at work in this woman's problems. However, they would come to different conclusions about the origin of these problems and the method by which she should be treated.

Data from a U.S. Department of Justice national Crime Victimization Survey indicates that among women who were victims of violent assault by an intimate partner, women reported that the offender was an ex-spouse almost half as many times as they reported that the offender was a spouse" (American Psychological Association Presidential Task Force on Violence and the Family, 1996, p. 39). A third factor to be considered in this discussion involves the very nature of the question "Why does she stay?" Very rarely do people ask, "Why does he batter?, or "Why doesn't he leave?" Many grassroots activists and feminists believe that to ask "Why does she stay?" is actually victim blaming and fails to hold the abuser accountable for his behavior.

Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.
