In–Person. Archives of Sexual Behavior, 45(6), 1357–1372. doi:10.1007/s10508–015–0491–7 Ybarra and Mitchell (2015) examined young men who
have sex with men (MSM) and found the Internet is an integral source not only for sexual health information but also for friends and sexual partners,
both casual and serious, whether meeting partners online is associated with risky sexual behavior. They found linkages between meeting partners
online versus offline the history of sexual risk behavior. On their research, they also found that youth who reported having sex by meeting sexual

research found that the more the Grindr users engage into sexual encounters the more likely they are to engage in unprotected anal intercourse (UAI)

people of all ages, the generational or cultural change that primarily affects young people, and age developmental effect. Researchers described how
difficult is to separate time period, generation and age because parents and adolescents will experience a significant generation gap, in other view, the
deferent perception around sexuality, affects adolescents' sexual behavior. Another way to see the changes on Americans sexual behavior is by looking

The Sex Discrimination Act 1975: Strengths And Weaknesses
The Sex Discrimination Act 1975
The Sex Discrimination Act took place in 1975 and it is an act which is relevant to women as well as men in order to promote the idea that both of this
sex must be treated equally in employment, transport and education and not be treated in the same way. The SexDiscrimination Act protects women as
well as men from getting discriminated due to their gender in education, employment, services and also advertising. Generally, women tend to get
more discriminated compared to men. Also, the Sex Discrimination Act is relevant to the amount of payment women and men receive but still do the
same job. People who are getting discriminated are likely to have a low self–confidence and self–esteem and when this happens, it ... Show more

The Strengths of the Disability Discrimination Act is that in every health and social care environments, people who have disabilities will get
supported. It is illegal under the Disability Discrimination Act for people to be discriminated due to their disability. The Disability Discrimination
Act includes people being able to have access to health and social care services, goods, education and facilities. However, the weakness of the
Disability Discrimination Act is that it only involves serious health illnesses such as HIV or cancer; however, it does not include other illnesses such
as depression. Due to this, it becomes difficult to identify when a person who has a disability is getting discriminated because they might have to verify

In the fourth study, based in Andhra Pradesh, India, Schneider et al. (2011) examined the association of circumcision with the prevalence of HIV in
men who have sex with men (MSM). The cross–sectional study sampled 387 Indian men from six drop–in health centers, who were between the ages
of 18–49. Men were selected from the drop–in centers, interviewed, given written informed consent and were then tested for HIV. Of the men tested for
HIV, 18.6% were positive. Interviews were completed in order to get information about risk factors that could be associated with the prevalence of
HIV in this population, which was quite high. Of men selected for the study 63.1% were circumcised and 36.9% were uncircumcised ... Show more

In the final study, Kibira, Nansubuga, Tumwesigye, Atuyambe, & Makumbi (2014) explored the relation of HIV prevalence and risky sexual
behaviors among circumcised and uncircumcised men in Uganda. In the study design, 9,524 male participants aged 15–59 years old were studied from
data from the Uganda AIDS Indicator Survey. This national survey was divided into a two–stage stratum cluster sampling that involved selecting
households for interview (Kibira et al., 2014). During the interview of each household, blood samples were collected for HIV status, circumcision
status, and interview questions that addressed risky sexual behaviors including: unprotected sex, numbers of partners, and transactional sex (Kibira et
al., 2014).
Based on the result, there's a direct correlation of circumcised males with lower HIV prevalence among all age groups. HIV prevalence was 35–37%
lower in the circumcised men, after controlling for several variables (Kibira et al., 2014). The study showed risky sexual behaviors are also important
factors affecting the HIV prevalence on both circumcised and uncircumcised men. The riskiest behavior practice in all men was unprotected sex,
followed by multiple sexual partners, and transactional sex. The practice of risky sexual behavior was found to be significantly higher in circumcised
men than in uncircumcised men. The research showed that although HIV prevalence has shown to be significantly lower in circumcised

The Feminization Of Love, By Francesca M. Cancian Essay
During the 19th century, social life began to become more sexualized and people began to be defined by their sexual behaviors. With this, the idea
of love and romance was feminized; and women were considered the ones who expressed their emotions, accepted strong feelings, and remained
pure. In contrast, men started to be considered sexualized creatures that were expected to be emotionally reserved. Today there is a sexual double
standard that puts pressure on women to engage in less sexual activity than men and puts pressure on men to maintain a standard of masculinity, just
like in the 19th century. Below we will not only explore the "feminization of love" as discussed in class, but also expand on how it has made an
impact on sexual expectations of men and women and how this relates to the sexual stigmatization of casual sex. In "The Feminization of Love"
(1986), Francesca M. Cancian explains how the social construction of gender has manipulated the heterosexual, American perspective of love. By using
past studies to support her argument, Cancian found that America focuses on what she calls the "feminine" perspective of love that is based off
wanting a relationship to possess expressive and emotional qualities, such as tenderness, passion, and openness. In contrast, she found that women with
lower socioeconomic status and most men prefer what she calls to the "masculine" view of love where the male expresses their affection by spending
time with and helping with material

Men Who Have Sex With Men Essay
MSM Men Who Have Sex With Men
A Critical Concept Essay
Tara L. Gill
CIIS
Sexuality is historically rooted vacillating through out time, adjusting to the individuals personal experience and is influenced by cultural norms. In the
United States, sexual behavior and attitudes are driven by variations in gender, social class, ethnicity, and religion. In fact, sexuality is fluid and is
different for everyone. It is a unique, diverse, complicated, secretive, and puzzling experience that is always changing. In essence sex is queer. In
examining the definition of sexual orientation De Cecco (1981), reasons: Sexual orientation is one of the few areas of human behavior in which
biology is not destiny ... Sex is interwoven with our feelings for others, their feeling for us, and the erotic possibilities we fancy in all these
relationships. Sexual orientation, too, is a tapestry far richer and more intricate than we have imagined (p. 64). In this discussion of sexual orientation
the critical concept to be examined is MSM, which refers to a wide range of groups of men who self–identify as straight, gay, bisexual, or heterosexual,
primarily homo/heterosexual. The term "MSM" has a built–in ambiguity regarding the word "have" (as in "men who have..."). In present tense, it
implies a habitual, ongoing behavior, not any specific event. But this use has a past tense, historical connotation as well, in that no one would be
termed an MSM if he had never had sex with a man in

Cross Sex Relationships Are Becoming Increasingly More...
Cross–sex relationships are becoming increasingly more popular than ever before. According to Schoonover and McEwan of Predicting the audience
challenge in cross–sex friendships, men and women have complimenting communication styles and this is what makes cross–sex friendships so
appealing as it grows to be more accepted (Schoonover, McEwan, 2014). In analyzing the benefits for both sexes, the most significant challenges, and
the cultural or societal challenges, it can be concluded that while cross–sex friendships come with their own trials, it can be a very rewarding
relationship. Who Benefits More Both men and women are able to reap the benefits of cross–sex friendships because they are given insight into
unfamiliar territory. Seeking advice about the opposite sex with a friend who is of the same sex does not always give the most accurate perspective
and so that sex is not represented. On the downside, women who have too many male friends may be seen as promiscuous in this society because it is
not a good look to spend too much time with men alone. This double standard is why women may not benefit from maintaining many cross–sex
relationships. For this reason, men have the greatest benefit for maintaining cross–sex relationships which is why they may be known to engage in
them more frequently. Men Men benefit from cross–sex friendships because they seek out female companionship to receive a different type of attention
their same–sex relationships may not be offering

Third Sex: Third Generation
History of third sex In all probability the pre–historical human societies had close to 5 or 6 gender identities, keeping with the nature of humans.
Indeed some of the surviving ancient tribes (e.g. the Native Americans or the Bugis of Sulawesi, etc.)). When there were not enough gender identities,
unlike present day west, these cultures accommodated all the possible shades of gender within the ones available. The feminine male, the masculine
female and the hermaphrodite ––– all were considered important members of the society and had their distinctive roles in the society. E.g. they often
became priests and healers. At some point of time Masculinity in men started to be valued much more ––– perhaps because the society needed more...

Sex between men was extremely common amongst masculine gendered men even when marriage was seen as a social duty necessary for
procreation. It wasn't unmanly or a third gender quality to desire another man. In fact, traditionally it had a masculine value and all warrior male
traditions attached great value to such bonds. By the time Christ was born however, masculine male sexual bonds started to be targeted by the
societies, who now had less and less tolerance for them, as they were a big hurdle in the institution of marriage. Christianity and Islam began a never
ending violent 'crusade' against masculine male bonds till such bonds were completely obliterated from the surface of the society. The second blow
came in the form of 'social masculinity'. In the medieval ages sex between men started to be actively propagated as a feminine quality that is only
indulged in by members of the third sex ––– not only by Christians and Islamic societies, but also by others like Hindus as well. They took cue from
each other, no doubt. All this had the effect that sex between masculine gendered men went underground and men started to observe strict silence over
such needs or bonds in the formal space. But masculine gendered men who liked men exclusively, in the entire history never actually became a part of
the third sex. However, with this the third sex males who liked men got a social space all for themselves and became powerful within that space. The
exceptions were the

Hip Hop Video Analysis
In today's society we have become so desensitised to seeing woman used as sexual objects that you can look at most hip hop videos today and see the
same themes running through each video. I reviewed three hip hop videos for this article the following songs were reviewed:

Buying Sex Documentary Summary
The documentary Buying Sex opens up the viewer's mind to the bigger picture of prostitution. Everyone in the film has a bias on whether or not they
believe prostitution should be legal or illegal or even if it is legal, what actions should be taken to protect those who wish to sell their body for sex. It
takes former prostitutes who have gotten out of the business and who believe that prostitution negatively impacted their lives and tells why they felt
some laws in Canada are not adequate enough to protect women's rights. On the opposite spectrum of that, former and current prostitutes who enjoy
their work, go to court to legalize prostitution.
Throughout the documentary a recurring issue was women's equality. People against prostitution want it illegal because it gives the man the control to
use a woman's body in the way that he wants, but those for prostitution see it as a women's right to sell her body for sex. The bigger picture of this
documentary is equalization for women and men. Prostitution is mainly men buying sex from women, which leads the supplier in the hands of the
buyer and within his control because she has no other way to provide for herself. Countries and people want prostitution illegal because it makes the

The Prevalence Of Hiv Is Higher Among Women Essay
The prevalence of HIV is higher among women (30%) than men (19%) (Ministry of Health [Lesotho] & ICF International, 2014). For both men and
women, HIV prevalence increases with age and then declines. HIV prevalence is highest for women at age group 35–39 (46%) and for men at age
group 40–44 (44%). Taking employment into consideration, employed individuals in Lesotho have higher prevalence of HIV than unemployed for
both men and women. The prevalence among employed men and women is 39% and 23%, respectively and among unemployed men and women is
21% and 9%, respectively. Social stigmatization and discrimination inhibit citizens of Lesotho from HIV screening. Knowing whether they are HIV
positive and/or concern of being labeled in their community function as barriers in citizens getting screened. Males in the population are more likely
to express attitudes in favor of social stigmatization. Stigmatization is directly related to disparities: gender, socioeconomic, and education.

Empowerment In Lysistrata
In the play Lysistrata, Aristophanes imagines the women of Greece "fighting" for peace with an essentially feminine weapon: sexual blackmail. This
play was written during the Peloponnesian war. The play's protagonist is an Athenian woman, named Lysistrata, who plans to convince women to
abstain from sex in order to end the war between the men of Greece. Lysistrata brings the Spartan and Theban women into her plan as well. Her idea
was not just to deprive the Athenian men of sex, but deprive the men on ALL sides of the conflict. She hoped that this would quickly bring the men to
the negotiating table in order to find a solution for peace between their city–states. Lysistrata is a woman of strong convictions who, being tired of the

It seems to dictate that men cannot function unless their penis has recently been inside someone's vagina. That does them a significant disservice. I
believe that both sexes are portrayed in this play as one–trick ponies. The men cannot function without sex and the women must use sex as a weapon to
get what they want. I do believe that the book reveals a very interesting, if insulting, perspective; the idea that if used correctly, sex can be used as a
bargaining chip for women to get what they want from men. This may be true in some instances. As a woman, I have seen first–hand that when sex is
put on the table it can definitely change the rules of the game. However, neither stereotype is true all, or even most, of the time. To have both sexes
put into little boxes seems insulting to me. One of the things that the book implies is that generally, as human beings, we are very dependent on sex as
it relates to our everyday lives. However, I believe that the play over exaggerates the weight that sex holds to men and women in

Sex Sexuality And Its Effect On Society
The world in constantly evolving and ideas that were once seen as radical soon become a societal norm. Sex and sexuality have often been a taboo
topic, but are a central part of history because life itself would not exists without sex. Since sexuality, and even more so same–sex sexuality, were not
often mentioned historically, there are many unknowns and inferencing must be done relatively often. Through the convergence of primary sources,
such as court cases and diaries, and secondary sources such as essays and books, it is possible for historians to piece together the history of same–sex
sexuality in Canada, and more specifically, Alberta. Although society has progressed to become more accepting and understanding, there are also
many things that remain constant from early 20th century Alberta to Alberta today. Power & Authority Almost every relationship has an unequal
distribution of power, but this on its own is neither negative or positive. Imbalance of power become an issue when those in power exercise their
control to exploit and disadvantage others. Unfortunately for men having sex with men in Alberta in the 1900's, they had very little power in relation
to the government and police. Police were actively surveilling parks, bars, and even opening mail and listening to phone conversations in order to find
and condemn men seeking out sex with men or men suspected of looking for sex with men. In Alberta in 1912, men such as David Smith were

genuinely odd interests they get a kick out of the chance to be made fun, and accordingly of an outcome they transform their own selves into slaves to

The 's Argument Against Prostitution
Prostitution is the exchange of money for sex which enables the client direct access to sexual satisfaction through physical contact. In this essay, I
shall argue that we should be morally opposed to prostitution. I shall analyse Laurie Shrage's argument against prostitution. I shall then consider Igor
Primoratz's objections to these arguments and examine his account for why we should not be opposed to prostitution. I shall then explain why
Shrage's argument survives these objections and we should therefore be morally opposed to prostitution. Shrage's argument focuses on the view that
prostitution oppresses all women and we should be morally opposed to it. Shrage's argument concerns modern, contemporary prostitution. The
central thesis to Shrage's argument is the notion of cultural beliefs. Shrage defines cultural beliefs as what we as a society believe as a whole.
Society interprets our actions and determine their moral status based on the majority's beliefs. It does not matter if these beliefs are true or false
because society will praise actions that they consider to be good and condemn those actions which they consider to be bad (Shrage, 1989, 351). Shrage
argues that there are four cultural beliefs which cause prostitution to oppress women because it causes women to be labelled and asserts male social
dominance. The first cultural belief she suggests is that society generally believe that human beings, particularly men, possess a strong sex drive. The
second cultural

Dude Sex White Masculinities Summary
"Dude–Sex: White Masculinities and 'Authentic' Heterosexuality among Dudes Who Have Sex with Dudes," builds on findings found from an online

is to analyze the racialized and heterosexual meanings attached to men who prefer other men for sex.
From the article, the author argues that lack of public discussion regarding sexual matters have led to many stereotypes concerning the same. For
example, among the stereotypes is that men of color have predatory and dangerous sexual behaviors. In addition, it has been stereotyped that Africa
Americans tend to adopt homophobic practices compared to other races. However, I tend to disagree with the author's findings because American

formed based on sexual orientations which will help in the formation of rights groups. Gay people are in the bracket of individuals with special needs.
People with disabilities form such groups so that their leaders can claim for their rights. Only a few countries have acknowledged accepting gay

Often times those who participate in hazardous sexual behaviors are exposed to sexually transmitted diseases, (STDs) also commonly referred as
sexually transmitted infections (STIs). A term used to describe a host of various diseases or infections that are communicable by direct sexual contact,
some of those diseases include: gonorrhea, chlamydia, syphilis, and genital herpes. Several studies conducted by researchers have concluded a

These findings are solely based on scholarly peer journals from medical intuitions, LGBT councils and research scientist (Everett, 2013).
Challenges presented by the Issue
Several public health researchers have detected higher rates of both (STIs) and STI risk behaviors among MSM /MSMW (men who have sex with
men and women) and WSW/WSWM (women who have sex with women and men). Subsequently those populations are compared to men and women
who engage solely in opposite–sex sexual encounters (Everett, 2013). These results were concentrated among gay and bisexual identifiers who have
reported both male and female sexual encounters. Recently, several studies have also been called into investigation by researchers to examine the
sexual identity role in unification with sexual behavior in order to fully comprehend how STI disparities are distributed across the U.S population by
sexual orientation (Everett, 2013).
Gay men or men that have sex with other men (MSM) are more inclined to experiencing the highest encumbrance of HIV compared to any other
gender group. Several studies have indicated that MSM is the only gender group in which the incidence of new HIV diagnoses are rapidly increasing
since the 1990 epidemics. Public health surveillance data has predicted that MSM are also to be the highest–risk group for syphilis infections. Current

Sex Controversy
Let's talk about sex! The rate of Sexually Transmitted Diseases has risen seventy percent in the past years among men who get tested. Sex can be a
very big controversy when it comes to today's society, how it is taught or what people know about the matter can be another major issue. Paul Van
Haver, also known as Belgian singer, Stromae, in his song "Moules Frites" (i.e. Mussels and Fries) expresses how sex is a controversial issue to which
men are likely to engage in care–free sex. Stromae also sings about how seductive men tend to get sex very easily and the repercussions of
unprotected sex, which are Sexually Transmitted Diseases. People should be more careful with their sex life. In his interview with Sarah Grant, "We

Most men love to brag about their sexual encounters and prove to others that they are real men. Stromae personifies Paulo's penis to a point where
readers or listeners can understand clearly that the man is controlled by his penis. In verse 1, line 3, "When the latter wakes up", when Paulo is in
erection, his penis rises; this is because "a shell from his dream", a woman that he was longing to get into approached him. A study from the
University of Texas, reveals that "men are more likely to give in to sexual temptations because they tend to have stronger sexual impulse strength
than women do", in other words men constantly want and need sex. "And now he sings" at the end of verse 1, line 5, is a double entendre because
it shows his excitement in having sex; therefore, he expresses or even brags about it through his song "Paulo loves mussels and fries, without fries,
and without mayo". He brags about how he loves this Belgian dish, but without fries, which can represent in image, a penis, and the mayo is the
sperm. He eats mussels, which are originally in shells, which have a similar shape to a vagina; in order to eat it one has to slurp it out, which can also
be a double entendre, representing the oral sex act called "Cunnilingus", performed by a person on a female's genitalia. In verse 2, lines 1 through 4,
the narrator explains what Paulo does before every cunni. "But before he sits down to eat, he always drinks a glass of white wine, to forget the
unbearable sour and bitter taste of the ocean". He drinks before having oral sex to be less bothered by the taste of the woman's vagina; the taste is
said to be sour and bitter. The ocean refers to the woman's vagina at the moment she is overflowing while releasing the fluid squirted out of

Global Fund Project Assignment #7
Country: Uganda
Disease: HIV/AIDS
1.)Provide a brief introduction to your overall plan and strategy for this proposal.
Uganda used to be one of the most prevalent cases of HIV with around 18.5% being infected in 1992 to its lowest rate of 6.4% in 2005 . Even though
the HIV rate is increasing at certain rates amongst adults Uganda has done a good job of keeping the HIV prevalence at a generalized rate. This stems
from Uganda recovering from numerous political strife and a civil war which left many orphaned and dead. Now that Uganda is regaining its political
stability, it has turned its attention to the HIV problem in the country with the president of Uganda creating a commitment program designed to combat
HIV, noting its deadliness. Through government and international organizations efforts, the prevalence of HIV total has only lead up to 7.4% of the
total population. This results in around 1.4 million Ugandan's infected with HIV/AIDs with around 190,000 children being infected as well . But
although most Ugandan's have equal access to HIV testing and counselling there are a certain most–at–risk population group that has a high prevalence
of HIV. They are the sex industry and homosexuals. Through the resources of the Global Fund, this proposal aims to answer that question of why
HIV is so prevalent amongst sex workers and homosexuals by looking at the recent spread of the HIV/AIDs virus and to go further and

HIV/AIDS In Sub-Saharan Africa
Sub–Saharan Africa has the most serious HIV/AIDS epidemic in the world. In 2013, an estimated 24.7 million people were living with HIV,
accounting for 71% of the global total. In the same year, there were an estimated 1.5 million new HIV infections and 1.1 million AIDS–related deaths.
The second largest country most impacted by HIV/AIDS in Sub–Saharan Africa is Lesotho.
Nature and Magnitude of the Problem:
HIV corrupts the CD4 cells or T –cells, which weaken the immune system disabling the T–cells from detecting invaders such as viruses and bacteria.

Sex : Sex And Sex Essay
Sex and sex culture has become more casual and easier to discuss over the years. With pre–marital sex becoming more acceptable, there's been an
influx in "hooking up", one night stands, and even rape and sexual assault. Sex was solely meant for procreation circa 1900's but over time sex has
regained its true connotation of being pleasurable but with a stigma. Sex nowadays has become more of a male thing. With society being heavily
satiated in the media, women are now seen as objects. The pleasure in sex is no longer mutual for both men and women, especially in today's hookup
culture. Due to the constant portrayal of women being sex symbols in adverts and television, it's almost unconsciously ingrained in both women and
men's minds that women are meant to pleasure men. This filter on women has drastically altered sex for women and has also made it dangerous to
even be a woman in public. Sex overall has become a male thing due to the media, which has changed the way both men and women see women.
Due to magazines like Maxim, women have become highly objectified. This has caused men to only seek what he wants from a woman, especially
within society's current hookup culture. Magazines and ads have made it easier for people in society to accept masculinity ideology as well. L. Ward
stated, "because traditional [masculinity ideologies] focuses on the power of the male sex drive, on men as sexual agents and imitators and on women
as sexual objects and gatekeepers, then greater

Sex Trafficking in India VS in America
Sex trafficking generally involves the forced prostitution of women, sometimes it falls on men as well, often children. Many times the abuser uses
mind games to force the victim to have sex with them; some of those being promising marriage and a family if they do as they are told. Another thing
that the traffickers tend to do is off the victim or the victim's family accommodations or services in return for prostitution. Jennifer Mandel stated,
"Uneducated, marginalized, and discriminated against, these women may be lured by traffickers promising employment opportunities abroad (Mandel,
2012–2013)." This states that the traffickers do not only get lured in by promises of accommodations, but of other employment opportunities. ... Show

Prostitution Should Not Be Legal
When it comes to the topic of prostitution, most of us will readily agree that it is wrong as it portrays a negative image on women. Where this
agreement usually ends, however, it is whether or not it's a negative outcome. Whereas some are convinced that prostitution should be legal, others
maintain that it should stay illegal because of moral intuitions. I disagree that prostitution should be legalized because it's a form of slavery. Here are

Negatives Of Masculinity
Masculinity is experienced differently between racial groups, sexual orientations, age, and a number of different social institutions. Black men who
have sex with men are an insightful example of this. In "'I Always Felt I Had to Prove My Manhood': Homosexuality, Masculinity, Gender Role
Strain, and HIV Risk Among Young Black Men Who Have Sex With Men", Errol Lamont Fields, et al. conducted research on the family, peer,

focused on the impacts of masculinity in the form of the Gender Role Strain (2015). There are three main components of the Gender Role Strain: a
discrepancy strain, a dysfunction strain, and a trauma strain. The discrepancy strain refers to the psychological distress that occurs when one does not
meet either external or internalized masculine expectations or manhood ideals. This was described by participants as the feelings of discordance
between homosexuality and rigid male norms, and the feelings that surrounded important people in their lives seeing homosexuality as a threat to
masculinity and associated with being weak and effeminate (Fields, et al. 2015). This resulted in a conflict because: "...losing one's standing as a man
also threatened social positions and relationships within families, peer groups, and communities," and an internalization of antihomosexual constructs
of masculinity (Fields, et al. 2015). Next, the dysfunction strain refers to the negative effects the result from adhering to normative masculine
expectations; while these expectations may appear desirable, they have potential side effects on the men themselves and those close to them (Fields, et
al. 2015). This was especially prominent among black men who have sex with men because they have stronger vigilance to maintaining a desirable
level of conformity to masculine norms to camouflage their homosexuality. This resulted in greater levels of stress associated with upholding this
disguise and the fear of their sexuality being discovered (Fields, et al. 2015). Lastly, the trauma strain refers to the psychological strain from
experiencing the masculine socialization process, particularly during childhood, adolescence, and early adulthood. Many of the men in this study
defined masculinity as simply "not feminine", and that being a man means pursuing women sexually and being physically strong and aggressive
(Fields, et al. 2015). The culmination of these various stressors impact

The Emergence And Effects Of Sex On Advertising

The Emergence and Effects of Sex in Advertising When advertising emerged in the 19th century, sex was already being used as a tool to sell products,
services or brands. The advertisements usually feature an image of a beautiful woman or man who is either nude or even suggestively sexual, which
typically has no connection to the product being advertised. Advertisers know that good–looking models in advertisements serve as a reason to buy the
brand. The first recorded use of sex in advertisements was during the 1890's when a cigarette company inserted trading cards of women who were

Women are often used in advertisements showing some sort of sexual behavior to sell a product or service. The earliest known use of sex inadvertising
was in the 19th century in 1885, where James Buchanan Duke, president of W. Duke & Sons, committed to using advertising as a means of
increasing sales, he did this by inserting trading cards into cigarette packs that showed women who are dressed provocatively. After 5 years, W.
Duke & Sons became one of the largest manufacturers of cigarettes in America. (Porter 31) Even though the trading cards inserted in the cigarette
packs were not related to the product at all, it just shows the effectiveness of using sex in advertising to sell a product. After this success more
companies and services started using sex in their advertisements, where they would use men or women and expose them sexually even if it does not
relate to the product they are advertising. The print advertisers are portraying women as a sexual object in order to gain more sales and readers, when
the women in the advertisements did not relate to anything that was going on in the magazine. (Kerin, Lundstrom and Sciglimplaglia 39) During this
time, a lot of women were already aware that women in advertising are being portrayed improperly. In a study done by Lundstrom and

ACCEPTING MEN AS THEY ARE– ALBERT ELLIS
In Albert Ellis's, The Intelligent Woman's Guide to Mating and Dating (1979), he states it is a fact that most males are more interested in sex from
love, that they love after being sexually satisfied rather than before going to bed, as females often do. He believes women should accept men as
they are: sexually demanding, less devoted to the children, less warm and romantic. Ellis states it is the natural act of a man to be this way, as these
traits make up a man. He states it would be pointless to fight him for being the way he is and should just accept it. While doing so, Ellis is on the side
of the women's, as he is writing this book towards females to help them in mating ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There is a saying that men are rather more blunt or open from woman about their sexual desires, but woman in the inside are more sexually
demanding. Females have been known to be more hormonal from men as they have to experience monthly periods and such. If doing so, her
hormones may be extremely high whereas she may request sex often, as sex can be a remedy for stress. A man can only handle so much, especially
when a man is able to orgasm in seconds whereas women may take hours to do so. There are also conditions where women develop into a nympho,
one who cannot live without sex. As stated, a man can not always be more sexually demanding from a woman.
Albert Ellis believes it is perfectly proper for women to believe men are only interested in sex or all men are selfish. However, the truth is, there
are other males than the ones portrayed by the media. There are many cases in which men actually love their women not just for sex, but for
everything about her. My close friend Colden once said, "The way she laughs, the way she talks, the way she simply is, just inspires me to do what I
do and to continue on with my life. It would be a false statement to state "all men are selfish." Some men have spoiled their women everyday like they

Sexuality, Gender, Masculinity And Status
In ancient Rome there was no notion of sexuality because sexuality is a modern concept, so there was no term for labeling one's sexual preference.
Instead, in ancient Rome, there was only sexual desire and inclination. Only specific sexual acts could be categorized and assessed because there was
no term for a person's sexual orientation as either homosexual or heterosexual. Humans inherently differ in sexual preferences in many ways. One of
which is liking a specific sex of partners, yet this not necessarily the most significant difference in sexual preferences.1 In ancient Rome a male citizen
could perform sex acts, under certain circumstances, with the gender he preferred, without fear of ridicule. Society was less concerned with the gender
or age of a man's sexual partners than with the perception of the masculinity of all male partners involved. Other things were more important than
gender when it came to sex, such as penetration, masculinity and status. To exemplify that society was less concerned with the gender of a man's
sexual partners than the perception of masculinity, I will evaluate masculinity in ancient Rome, the social hierarchy of being the receptive versus
penetrative partner, laws, cinaedus, effeminacy and pathics, pederasty, slavery and prostitution. The perception of men's masculinity was such an
integral part of Roman society that it was insulting to be considered not masculine if you were a freeborn man. The reason for Roman society's

Women can Stand with Men
The word women is defined by Merriam–Webster as "an adult female human being" or as shocking as "the girlfriend, wife or lover of a man". The
word women, plural, or woman, singular, can be said derives from the words men, plural, and man, singular, a word defined by Merriam–Webster as an
"adult male human being". In my point of view, this shows how women are overpowered by men and characterizes the battle of the sexes women
struggle with every living moment. This essay will pertain to how women should be treated justly and equally to men when in the hookup and sex
culture, having the "slut stigma" reduced to a minimum. It is said that men seduce and women are designed to be seduced. This entails that women
who want to be active in the sex culture have to "pull maneuvers" to be seduced by men, for example wear "slut attire", or behave in a "slut" manner.
The word "slut" is used to describe a woman who is part of the sex and hookup culture, which entails multiple parters, enjoying sex, or a woman who
is rumored to have a sexual appetite that society disapproves of. Urban dictionary describes a "slut" as "a woman with the morals of a man", this
shows how double standard and battle of the sexes is prevalent even after the feminist movements have brought women to such high standards of life.

pursue sexual opportunities regardless of

Sex Workers And Sex Work Essay
The term sex work dates to 1973, when the organization Call Off Your Old Tired Ethics proposed replacing the term prostitute with the term sex
worker to separate sex workers from dirt and disease and instead legitimize them as a social category engaged in an income–generating occupation
(Uretsky, 2014). Sex work is commonly thought to be associated with dirt and disease. The public health field has used sex work as a "behavioral
category" which is useful for targeting a population determined to be at high risk for HIV infection. This approach however is discriminatory
against sex work and has torn sex workers away from the idea that they are actual workers with an actual occupation, to disease ridden and risk
factors. Sex can be considered both work for men and women. Because sex work is often associated with disease, as are sex workers, they are
branded, and have a reputation related to immoral behavior which leads to stigma and discrimination. Popular accounts of sex work tend to present
prostitution as a product of the economy or as sex workers having psychological problems, lending to the narrative of sex workers as passive and as
victims exploited and coerced into sex work. This paper takes a look at the lives of sex workers, male, female, and also transgender people, and the
similarities between them, but also some differences as these cannot be completely ignored or overlooked.

because the roles a man does makes him look feminine. The life of typical same–sex relationships is characterized by appearance, masculinity and
femininity. Appearance is mainly stereotypical on males because people talk about if the male cooks every night he is the female in the relationship.
If one of the males plays sports or is more masculine than the other, he the man of the relationship. That's judging a book by its cover, just because
one spouse is good at cooking or even shopping doesn't make them the female they just have the better trait. (Mays, 2013). Being masculine doesn't
always consist of football type of sports. Opening the door for another individual rather same–sex or opposite doesn't necessarily mean he is the man
but because it's simply a nice gesture. (Mays, 2013). Both spouses in the relationship are considered the man because that's what they were born to be.
Just because they like other males doesn't mean they are females in a relationship. This statement goes for female same–sex relationships. There are
some people are like I wonder who is the man of the relationship like she has muscles and plays sports while the other one shops and cooks dinner every

In conclusion, the research found that the more the Grindr users engage into sexual encounters the more likely they are to engage in unprotected anal intercourse (UAI) and researchers suggested that a one possible explanation is that the increasing familiarity with the app with other users, over time, may lower one's perceived susceptibility to HIV and other STI's . Twenge, J. M., Sherman, R. A., & Wells, B. E. (2015). Changes in American Adults' Sexual Behavior and Attitudes, 1972–2012. Archives of Sexual Behavior, 44(8), 2273–2285. doi:10.1007/s10508–015–0540–2 Twenge, Sherman and Wells (2015) examined how Americans changed their sexual behaviors from 1972–2012. For instance, participants born before 1950 can recall a time when sex outside or marriage was taboo perhaps their sexual behavior attitude has changed in three ways; time period which is a cultural change that affects people of all ages, the generational or cultural change that primarily affects young people, and age developmental effect. Researchers described how difficult is to separate time period, generation and age because parents and adolescents will experience a significant generation gap, in other view, the deferent perception around sexuality, affects adolescents' sexual behavior. The SexDiscrimination Act protects women as well as men from getting discriminated due to their gender in education, employment, services and also advertising. It is illegal under the Disability Discrimination Act for people to be discriminated due to their disability. • 3. Correlation Between Hiv And The Prevalence Of Hiv verify exchangeability. In the fourth study, based in Andhra Pradesh, India, Schneider et al. (2011) examined the association of circumcision with the prevalence of HIV in men who have sex with men (MSM). The cross–sectional study sampled 387 Indian men from six drop–in health centers, who were between the ages of 18–49. Men were selected from the drop–in centers, interviewed, given written informed consent and were then tested for HIV. Of the men tested for HIV, 18.6% were positive. Interviews were completed in order to get information about risk factors that could be associated with the prevalence of HIV in this population, which was quite high. In the final study, Kibira, Nansubuga, Tumwesigye, Atuyambe, & Makumbi (2014) explored the relation of HIV prevalence and risky sexual behaviors among circumcised and uncircumcised men in Uganda. In the study design, 9,524 male participants aged 15–59 years old were studied from data from the Uganda AIDS Indicator Survey. This national survey was divided into a two–stage stratum cluster sampling that involved selecting households for interview (Kibira et al., 2014). During the interview of each household, blood samples were collected for HIV status, circumcision status, and interview questions that addressed risky sexual behaviors including: unprotected sex, numbers of partners, and transactional sex (Kibira et al., 2014). Based on the result, there's a direct correlation of circumcised males with lower HIV prevalence among all age groups. HIV prevalence was 35–37% lower in the circumcised men, after controlling for several variables (Kibira et al., 2014). The study showed risky sexual behaviors are also important factors affecting the HIV prevalence on both circumcised and uncircumcised men. The riskiest behavior practice in all men was unprotected sex, followed by multiple sexual partners, and transactional sex. The practice of risky sexual behavior was found to be significantly higher in circumcised men than in uncircumcised men. The research showed that although HIV prevalence has shown to be significantly lower in circumcised ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. The Feminization Of Love, By Francesca M. Cancian Essay During the 19th century, social life began to become more sexualized and people began to be defined by their sexual behaviors. With this, the idea of love and romance was feminized; and women were considered the ones who expressed their emotions, accepted strong feelings, and remained pure. In contrast, men started to be considered sexualized creatures that were expected to be emotionally reserved. Today there is a sexual double standard that puts pressure on women to engage in less sexual activity than men and puts pressure on men to maintain a standard of masculinity, just like in the 19th century. Below we will not only explore the "feminization of love" as discussed in class, but also expand on how it has made an impact on sexual expectations of men and women and how this relates to the sexual stigmatization of casual sex. In "The Feminization of Love" (1986), Francesca M. Cancian explains how the social construction of gender has manipulated the heterosexual, American perspective of love. By using past studies to support her argument, Cancian found that America focuses on what she calls the "feminine" perspective of love that is based off wanting a relationship to possess expressive and emotional qualities, such as tenderness, passion, and openness. In contrast, she found that women with lower socioeconomic status and most men prefer what she calls to the "masculine" view of love where the male expresses their affection by spending time with and helping with material ... • 5. Men Who Have Sex With Men Essay MSM Men Who Have Sex With Men A Critical Concept Essay Tara L. Gill CIIS Sexuality is historically rooted vacillating through out time, adjusting to the individuals personal experience and is influenced by cultural norms. In the United States, sexual behavior and attitudes are driven by variations in gender, social class, ethnicity, and religion. In fact, sexuality is fluid and is different for everyone. It is a unique, diverse, complicated, secretive, and puzzling experience that is always changing. In essence sex is queer. In examining the definition of sexual orientation De Cecco (1981), reasons: Sexual orientation is one of the few areas of human behavior in which biology is not destiny ... Sex is interwoven with our feelings for others, their feeling for us, and the erotic possibilities we fancy in all these relationships. Sexual orientation, too, is a tapestry far richer and more intricate than we have imagined (p. 64). In this discussion of sexual orientation the critical concept to be examined is MSM, which refers to a wide range of groups of men who self–identify as straight, gay, bisexual, or heterosexual, primarily homo/heterosexual. The term "MSM" has a built–in ambiguity regarding the word "have" (as in "men who have..."). In present tense, it implies a habitual, ongoing behavior, not any specific event. But this use has a past tense, historical connotation as well, in that no one would be termed an MSM if he had never had sex with a man in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 7. Cross Sex Relationships Are Becoming Increasingly More... Cross–sex relationships are becoming increasingly more popular than ever before. According to Schoonover and McEwan of Predicting the audience challenge in cross–sex friendships, men and women have complimenting communication styles and this is what makes cross–sex friendships so appealing as it grows to be more accepted (Schoonover, McEwan, 2014). In analyzing the benefits for both sexes, the most significant challenges, and the cultural or societal challenges, it can be concluded that while cross–sex friendships come with their own trials, it can be a very rewarding relationship. Who Benefits More Both men and women are able to reap the benefits of cross–sex friendships because they are given insight into unfamiliar territory. Seeking advice about the opposite sex with a friend who is of the same sex does not always give the most accurate perspective and so that sex is not represented. On the downside, women who have too many male friends may be seen as promiscuous in this society because it is not a good look to spend too much time with men alone. This double standard is why women may not benefit from maintaining many cross–sex relationships. For this reason, men have the greatest benefit for maintaining cross–sex relationships which is why they may be known to engage in them more frequently. Men Men benefit from cross–sex friendships because they seek out female companionship to receive a different type of attention their same–sex relationships may not be offering ... Indeed some of the surviving ancient tribes (e.g. the Native Americans or the Bugis of Sulawesi, etc.)). When there were not enough gender identities, unlike present day west, these cultures accommodated all the possible shades of gender within the ones available. The feminine male, the masculine female and the hermaphrodite ––– all were considered important members of the society and had their distinctive roles in the society. E.g. they often became priests and healers. At some point of time Masculinity in men started to be valued much more ––– perhaps because the society needed more... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Sex between men was extremely common amongst masculine gendered men even when marriage was seen as a social duty necessary for procreation. It wasn't unmanly or a third gender quality to desire another man. In fact, traditionally it had a masculine value and all warrior male traditions attached great value to such bonds. By the time Christ was born however, masculine male sexual bonds started to be targeted by the societies, who now had less and less tolerance for them, as they were a big hurdle in the institution of marriage. Christianity and Islam began a never ending violent 'crusade' against masculine male bonds till such bonds were completely obliterated from the surface of the society. The second blow came in the form of 'social masculinity'. In the medieval ages sex between men started to be actively propagated as a feminine quality that is only indulged in by members of the third sex ––– not only by Christians and Islamic societies, but also by others like Hindus as well. They took cue from each other, no doubt. All this had the effect that sex between masculine gendered men went underground and men started to observe strict silence over such needs or bonds in the formal space. But masculine gendered men who liked men exclusively, in the entire history never actually became a part of the third sex. However, with this the third sex males who liked men got a social space all for themselves and became powerful within that space. The exceptions were the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 10. Buying Sex Documentary Summary The documentary Buying Sex opens up the viewer's mind to the bigger picture of prostitution. Everyone in the film has a bias on whether or not they believe prostitution should be legal or illegal or even if it is legal, what actions should be taken to protect those who wish to sell their body for sex. It takes former prostitutes who have gotten out of the business and who believe that prostitution negatively impacted their lives and tells why they felt some laws in Canada are not adequate enough to protect women's rights. On the opposite spectrum of that, former and current prostitutes who enjoy their work, go to court to legalize prostitution. Throughout the documentary a recurring issue was women's equality. • 11. The Prevalence Of Hiv Is Higher Among Women Essay The prevalence of HIV is higher among women (30%) than men (19%) (Ministry of Health [Lesotho] & ICF International, 2014). For both men and women, HIV prevalence increases with age and then declines. HIV prevalence is highest for women at age group 35–39 (46%) and for men at age group 40–44 (44%). Taking employment into consideration, employed individuals in Lesotho have higher prevalence of HIV than unemployed for both men and women. The prevalence among employed men and women is 39% and 23%, respectively and among unemployed men and women is 21% and 9%, respectively. Social stigmatization and discrimination inhibit citizens of Lesotho from HIV screening. • 12. Empowerment In Lysistrata In the play Lysistrata, Aristophanes imagines the women of Greece "fighting" for peace with an essentially feminine weapon: sexual blackmail. This play was written during the Peloponnesian war. The play's protagonist is an Athenian woman, named Lysistrata, who plans to convince women to abstain from sex in order to end the war between the men of Greece. Lysistrata brings the Spartan and Theban women into her plan as well. Her idea was not just to deprive the Athenian men of sex, but deprive the men on ALL sides of the conflict. She hoped that this would quickly bring the men to the negotiating table in order to find a solution for peace between their city–states. I believe that both sexes are portrayed in this play as one–trick ponies. The men cannot function without sex and the women must use sex as a weapon to get what they want. I do believe that the book reveals a very interesting, if insulting, perspective; the idea that if used correctly, sex can be used as a bargaining chip for women to get what they want from men. This may be true in some instances. As a woman, I have seen first–hand that when sex is put on the table it can definitely change the rules of the game. However, neither stereotype is true all, or even most, of the time. To have both sexes put into little boxes seems insulting to me. Sex and sexuality have often been a taboo topic, but are a central part of history because life itself would not exists without sex. Since sexuality, and even more so same–sex sexuality, were not often mentioned historically, there are many unknowns and inferencing must be done relatively often. Through the convergence of primary sources, such as court cases and diaries, and secondary sources such as essays and books, it is possible for historians to piece together the history of same–sex sexuality in Canada, and more specifically, Alberta. Although society has progressed to become more accepting and understanding, there are also many things that remain constant from early 20th century Alberta to Alberta today. Power & Authority Almost every relationship has an unequal distribution of power, but this on its own is neither negative or positive. Imbalance of power become an issue when those in power exercise their control to exploit and disadvantage others. Unfortunately for men having sex with men in Alberta in the 1900's, they had very little power in relation to the government and police. • 15. The 's Argument Against Prostitution Prostitution is the exchange of money for sex which enables the client direct access to sexual satisfaction through physical contact. In this essay, I shall argue that we should be morally opposed to prostitution. I shall analyse Laurie Shrage's argument against prostitution. I shall then consider Igor Primoratz's objections to these arguments and examine his account for why we should not be opposed to prostitution. I shall then explain why Shrage's argument survives these objections and we should therefore be morally opposed to prostitution. Shrage's argument focuses on the view that prostitution oppresses all women and we should be morally opposed to it. Shrage's argument concerns modern, contemporary prostitution. The central thesis to Shrage's argument is the notion of cultural beliefs. Shrage defines cultural beliefs as what we as a society believe as a whole. Society interprets our actions and determine their moral status based on the majority's beliefs. It does not matter if these beliefs are true or false because society will praise actions that they consider to be good and condemn those actions which they consider to be bad (Shrage, 1989, 351). Shrage argues that there are four cultural beliefs which cause prostitution to oppress women because it causes women to be labelled and asserts male social dominance. The first cultural belief she suggests is that society generally believe that human beings, particularly men, possess a strong sex drive. The second cultural ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Uganda used to be one of the most prevalent cases of HIV with around 18.5% being infected in 1992 to its lowest rate of 6.4% in 2005 . Even though the HIV rate is increasing at certain rates amongst adults Uganda has done a good job of keeping the HIV prevalence at a generalized rate. This stems from Uganda recovering from numerous political strife and a civil war which left many orphaned and dead. Now that Uganda is regaining its political stability, it has turned its attention to the HIV problem in the country with the president of Uganda creating a commitment program designed to combat HIV, noting its deadliness. Through government and international organizations efforts, the prevalence of HIV total has only lead up to 7.4% of the total population. With pre–marital sex becoming more acceptable, there's been an influx in "hooking up", one night stands, and even rape and sexual assault. Sex was solely meant for procreation circa 1900's but over time sex has regained its true connotation of being pleasurable but with a stigma. Sex nowadays has become more of a male thing. With society being heavily satiated in the media, women are now seen as objects. The pleasure in sex is no longer mutual for both men and women, especially in today's hookup culture. Due to the constant portrayal of women being sex symbols in adverts and television, it's almost unconsciously ingrained in both women and men's minds that women are meant to pleasure men. This filter on women has drastically altered sex for women and has also made it dangerous to even be a woman in public. Sex overall has become a male thing due to the media, which has changed the way both men and women see women. Due to magazines like Maxim, women have become highly objectified. This has caused men to only seek what he wants from a woman, especially within society's current hookup culture. In "'I Always Felt I Had to Prove My Manhood': Homosexuality, Masculinity, Gender Role Strain, and HIV Risk Among Young Black Men Who Have Sex With Men", Errol Lamont Fields, et al. conducted research on the family, peer, community, and racial expectations of masculinity perceived by young Black men who have sex with men, the gender role strain associated with these expectations, and the influence this has on HIV risk behavior. Fields, et al. define masculinity as, "A social construct involving the negotiation of power and authority, in which ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... focused on the impacts of masculinity in the form of the Gender Role Strain (2015). There are three main components of the Gender Role Strain: a discrepancy strain, a dysfunction strain, and a trauma strain. The discrepancy strain refers to the psychological distress that occurs when one does not meet either external or internalized masculine expectations or manhood ideals. This was described by participants as the feelings of discordance between homosexuality and rigid male norms, and the feelings that surrounded important people in their lives seeing homosexuality as a threat to masculinity and associated with being weak and effeminate (Fields, et al. 2015). This resulted in a conflict because: "...losing one's standing as a man also threatened social positions and relationships within families, peer groups, and communities," and an internalization of antihomosexual constructs of masculinity (Fields, et al. 2015). Next, the dysfunction strain refers to the negative effects the result from adhering to normative masculine expectations; while these expectations may appear desirable, they have potential side effects on the men themselves and those close to them (Fields, et al. 2015). This was especially prominent among black men who have sex with men because they have stronger vigilance to maintaining a desirable level of conformity to masculine norms to camouflage their homosexuality. This resulted in greater levels of stress associated with upholding this disguise and the fear of their sexuality being discovered (Fields, et al. 2015). Lastly, the trauma strain refers to the psychological strain from experiencing the masculine socialization process, particularly during childhood, adolescence, and early adulthood. Many of the men in this study defined masculinity as simply "not feminine", and that being a man means pursuing women sexually and being physically strong and aggressive (Fields, et al. 2015). The culmination of these various stressors impact ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 31. The Emergence And Effects Of Sex On Advertising John Gavin Mark Abraham HST 658 16 November 2014 The Emergence and Effects of Sex in Advertising When advertising emerged in the 19th century, sex was already being used as a tool to sell products, services or brands. The advertisements usually feature an image of a beautiful woman or man who is either nude or even suggestively sexual, which typically has no connection to the product being advertised. Advertisers know that good–looking models in advertisements serve as a reason to buy the brand. The first recorded use of sex in advertisements was during the 1890's when a cigarette company inserted trading cards of women who were dressed suggestively sexual. Comic book companies in the 1950s were using violence and sexuality to sell their ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Women are often used in advertisements showing some sort of sexual behavior to sell a product or service. The earliest known use of sex inadvertising was in the 19th century in 1885, where James Buchanan Duke, president of W. Duke & Sons, committed to using advertising as a means of increasing sales, he did this by inserting trading cards into cigarette packs that showed women who are dressed provocatively. After 5 years, W. Duke & Sons became one of the largest manufacturers of cigarettes in America. (Porter 31) Even though the trading cards inserted in the cigarette packs were not related to the product at all, it just shows the effectiveness of using sex in advertising to sell a product. After this success more companies and services started using sex in their advertisements, where they would use men or women and expose them sexually even if it does not relate to the product they are advertising. The print advertisers are portraying women as a sexual object in order to gain more sales and readers, when the women in the advertisements did not relate to anything that was going on in the magazine. (Kerin, Lundstrom and Sciglimplaglia 39) During this time, a lot of women were already aware that women in advertising are being portrayed improperly. In a study done by Lundstrom and ... • 32. Albert Ellis: Accepting Men as They Are Jeffrey Luong ACCEPTING MEN AS THEY ARE– ALBERT ELLIS In Albert Ellis's, The Intelligent Woman's Guide to Mating and Dating (1979), he states it is a fact that most males are more interested in sex from love, that they love after being sexually satisfied rather than before going to bed, as females often do. He believes women should accept men as they are: sexually demanding, less devoted to the children, less warm and romantic. Ellis states it is the natural act of a man to be this way, as these traits make up a man. He states it would be pointless to fight him for being the way he is and should just accept it. While doing so, Ellis is on the side of the women's, as he is writing this book towards females to help them in mating ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There is a saying that men are rather more blunt or open from woman about their sexual desires, but woman in the inside are more sexually demanding. Females have been known to be more hormonal from men as they have to experience monthly periods and such. If doing so, her hormones may be extremely high whereas she may request sex often, as sex can be a remedy for stress. A man can only handle so much, especially when a man is able to orgasm in seconds whereas women may take hours to do so. There are also conditions where women develop into a nympho, one who cannot live without sex. As stated, a man can not always be more sexually demanding from a woman. Albert Ellis believes it is perfectly proper for women to believe men are only interested in sex or all men are selfish. However, the truth is, there are other males than the ones portrayed by the media. There are many cases in which men actually love their women not just for sex, but for everything about her. My close friend Colden once said, "The way she laughs, the way she talks, the way she simply is, just inspires me to do what I do and to continue on with my life. It would be a false statement to state "all men are selfish." Some men have spoiled their women everyday like they have barely met. Whether its buying roses, cooking dinner, or simply taking them on dates, men are not selfish. As for the statement that all men are only interested in sex, what about the men ... • 33. Sexuality, Gender, Masculinity And Status In ancient Rome there was no notion of sexuality because sexuality is a modern concept, so there was no term for labeling one's sexual preference. Instead, in ancient Rome, there was only sexual desire and inclination. Only specific sexual acts could be categorized and assessed because there was no term for a person's sexual orientation as either homosexual or heterosexual. Humans inherently differ in sexual preferences in many ways. One of which is liking a specific sex of partners, yet this not necessarily the most significant difference in sexual preferences.1 In ancient Rome a male citizen could perform sex acts, under certain circumstances, with the gender he preferred, without fear of ridicule. Society was less concerned with the gender or age of a man's sexual partners than with the perception of the masculinity of all male partners involved. Other things were more important than gender when it came to sex, such as penetration, masculinity and status. To exemplify that society was less concerned with the gender of a man's sexual partners than the perception of masculinity, I will evaluate masculinity in ancient Rome, the social hierarchy of being the receptive versus penetrative partner, laws, cinaedus, effeminacy and pathics, pederasty, slavery and prostitution. The perception of men's masculinity was such an integral part of Roman society that it was insulting to be considered not masculine if you were a freeborn man. The reason for Roman society's obsession with ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 34. Essay On Analysis Penetration In life, I have stated that I am willing to try almost anything. This is generally true, moreover, I love new experiences and the insights that they give me, but there were a few activities that I was still unwilling to try for a variety of reasons. I have always been curious about anal penetration. It was always something that I said I would NEVER do, but there was still something that intrigued me about it. Over the course of the last few years, I have slowly started to become more open to trying it. I thought through my hesitations about it and realized that I felt as though it was predominantly societal pressure not to do it, which was ultimately stopping me. Furthermore, I am a firm believer in not letting other people's views on me... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I was able to be vulnerable and emotional with my partner. I felt like I could open up about what was working and what wasn't without fear that they would become upset. I know deep down that they would never get frustrated with me about something going wrong sexually, but I feel like it has been ingrained in me to believe that they would. With the new found confidence that my partner and I instilled in myself, we were able to end up trying anal penetration with a finger about three weeks later. This was a wonderful experience. My partner gave me full control of what was happening. It was an amazing way to try it for the first time. It is always important to trust the person you are with and this experience reaffirmed my confidence in them. I haven't been that sexually comfortable with another person in a long time. It is problematical in life to say that something is acceptable or not for we each hold our own opinions. I do believe that when it comes to matters of the bedroom that it is important to realize certain undertakings are absolutely none of our business as a society. There seems to be this common misconception out there, perpetuated by a phrase, that puts pressure on people to stay away from anal. "This is an exit only!" According to Morin (as cited in Nienke Van Dijk, 2013), "The taboo on anal sexuality, Morin believes, is accompanied by an ambivalence and emotional charge, which makes this conversation too ... • 35. Group Reflection Thirdly, I asked John Blu about the activities and discussions that go on during the meetings that they hold on Thursdays. He stated that"Every meeting is different, there's group conversations when an issue or situation comes up from a member, there has been presentations on bullying, and there's activities like speed friending." John Blu continued to talk and started to discuss about how they did an activity called speed friending He then began giggling and said "It felt like speed dating and that everyone was there to find a hookup or hook ups, most trying to find bisexuals to experiment with." I then was shocked about why that was an activity at the meeting and how that educated people. However, I was not going to let this cloud my judgement before hearing what QUEST had to say about their meetings. When I went to see QUEST, we met in their conference room, there were no pride flags like anticipated, nor many cis males or females. The day I went in to observe the group, there were many people coupled off, that discussed how they all just met and that they met one another because of QUEST. In that moment I then realized that what John Blu said was very much true. I began observing them and watching how they were all over each other, which was disturbing in way because it was PDA. I then watched one of the advisors also be all over one of the new members of the group. I started to believe maybe the members are there for the wrong reasons and people were not there to ... • 36. Factors Associated with Non-Condom Use among Homosexuals There are several literatures discussing the importance of condoms in prevention of sexually transmitted diseases; the findings and conclusions of these studies were more or less similar especially among the young population. The youth represent the cohort with a substantial risk of acquiring sexually transmitted infection (Bull, S et al, 2012). Although the risk of acquiring such infections is common among heterosexual couples, male to male sexual behaviour has been considered as the primary risk factor for STIs, especially human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) (Geibel et al, 2010). The behavior of men who have sex with men (MSM) and their sexual activities are well documented in several literatures; however, there has been little ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A.Risky Behaviors and Sexually Transmitted Infections among Men who Sex with Men Best (2001) conducted surveys from both developed and developing countries on anal sex and HIV, the study showed that between 10% and 50% of sexually active adolescents and adults in the general population have engaged in anal intercourse. The study proves that among sexual behaviors that increases transmission of STI, anal intercourse holds physical and social risks. Men who have sex with men (MSM) remain among the highest population with HIV/AIDS cases due to a combination of lifestyle and biological factors that put them at greater risk. Multiple studies point out that men who have sex with men engage in multiple forms of risky sexual behavior, such as unprotected sex, multiple partners and intravenous drug use which make them more vulnerable to sexually transmitted infections, including ... • 37. Women can Stand with Men The word women is defined by Merriam–Webster as "an adult female human being" or as shocking as "the girlfriend, wife or lover of a man". The word women, plural, or woman, singular, can be said derives from the words men, plural, and man, singular, a word defined by Merriam–Webster as an "adult male human being". In my point of view, this shows how women are overpowered by men and characterizes the battle of the sexes women struggle with every living moment. This essay will pertain to how women should be treated justly and equally to men when in the hookup and sex culture, having the "slut stigma" reduced to a minimum. It is said that men seduce and women are designed to be seduced. This entails that women who want to be active in the sex culture have to "pull maneuvers" to be seduced by men, for example wear "slut attire", or behave in a "slut" manner. The word "slut" is used to describe a woman who is part of the sex and hookup culture, which entails multiple parters, enjoying sex, or a woman who is rumored to have a sexual appetite that society disapproves of. Urban dictionary describes a "slut" as "a woman with the morals of a man", this shows how double standard and battle of the sexes is prevalent even after the feminist movements have brought women to such high standards of life. In the essay by Laura Hamilton and Elizabeth Armstrong Double Binds and Flawed Options it is said that "...while men are expected to desire and pursue sexual opportunities regardless of ... • 38. Sex Workers And Sex Work Essay The term sex work dates to 1973, when the organization Call Off Your Old Tired Ethics proposed replacing the term prostitute with the term sex worker to separate sex workers from dirt and disease and instead legitimize them as a social category engaged in an income–generating occupation (Uretsky, 2014). Sex work is commonly thought to be associated with dirt and disease. The public health field has used sex work as a "behavioral category" which is useful for targeting a population determined to be at high risk for HIV infection. This approach however is discriminatory against sex work and has torn sex workers away from the idea that they are actual workers with an actual occupation, to disease ridden and risk factors. Sex can be considered both work for men and women. Because sex work is often associated with disease, as are sex workers, they are branded, and have a reputation related to immoral behavior which leads to stigma and discrimination. Popular accounts of sex work tend to present prostitution as a product of the economy or as sex workers having psychological problems, lending to the narrative of sex workers as passive and as victims exploited and coerced into sex work. This paper takes a look at the lives of sex workers, male, female, and also transgender people, and the similarities between them, but also some differences as these cannot be completely ignored or overlooked. • 39. Gender Roles In Same Sex Relationships In S. Mays article, what about gender roles in same–sex relationships, published by Norton, Mays discusses same–sex relationships, and why no one is considered the girl in the relationship. More male gay couples are stereotyped about their identity then same–sex female relationships. This is simply because the roles a man does makes him look feminine. The life of typical same–sex relationships is characterized by appearance, masculinity and femininity. Appearance is mainly stereotypical on males because people talk about if the male cooks every night he is the female in the relationship. If one of the males plays sports or is more masculine than the other, he the man of the relationship. That's judging a book by its cover, just because one spouse is good at cooking or even shopping doesn't make them the female they just have the better trait. (Mays, 2013). Being masculine doesn't always consist of football type of sports. Opening the door for another individual rather same–sex or opposite doesn't necessarily mean he is the man but because it's simply a nice gesture. (Mays, 2013). Both spouses in the relationship are considered the man because that's what they were born to be. Just because they like other males doesn't mean they are females in a relationship. This statement goes for female same–sex relationships. There are some people are like I wonder who is the man of the relationship like she has muscles and plays sports while the other one shops and cooks dinner every ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
