This document provides an overview and analysis of youth employment challenges in G20 economies. It finds that while some progress has been made in improving youth labor market outcomes following commitments by G20 leaders, young people still face significant barriers to quality jobs. It recommends that countries continue targeted policy measures to tackle high youth unemployment and underemployment. Quality apprenticeships and internships are identified as important pathways for school-to-work transitions when they provide good learning and opportunities to quality jobs without exploitation. Monitoring progress of G20 youth employment initiatives is also suggested.
