Fact Fluency
• Students need to know basic facts in order to focus
on higher level concepts
• You will use the iSucceed fact fluency intervention
curriculum with your students
• You will be able to train volunteers so that they can
provide more fact fluency support to students
Your Goal
Every Math Corps member is required to
recruit, train and support at least 5 community
volunteers to deliver fact fluency interventions

Recruitment 101
Why is recruitment important?
Where do volunteers most commonly learn about
volunteer activities?
• Place of worship—56%
• Workplace or employer—26%
• School or College—15%
• Membership in a service club or professional
organization—13 %
• Membership in a voluntary organization—13%
Questions to think about
Who knows about your school and/or Math Corps?
Who supports it?
Who benefits from it’s work or services?
Who is affected by the issues we deal with?
Who might be motivated to volunteer with Math Corps?
Brainstorming
For the next 5 minutes, write down as many ideas
for where you can recruit volunteers in your
community. Consider your school/sites networks,
as well as your own.
In groups, discuss your objectives and action steps
for Goal #1

Goal 2: Train and Support
Volunteers
Training Starts with Recruitment:
When can volunteers see students during the day? How
many times a week? What days? (ask Internal Coach)
What is your school and/or District policy for volunteering?
(Background checks, district orientation,
references)
When are you available to train volunteers? What support
do you need to train them and get them on board?
*The above information should be known before contacting and
recruiting volunteers. This will help set clear expectations.
