The document summarizes a student film project involving two characters having a conversation in a bathroom. It will demonstrate cinematography techniques like the 180-degree rule, shot/reverse shot editing, and match on action cuts. The story involves two school boys, James and Jake, who have an awkward encounter in the bathroom where Jake questions if he knows James from somewhere previously.
2. Continuity task involving filming and editing a
character opening a door, crossing a room and sitting
opposite another character with who he/she then
exchanges a couple of lines of dialogue. The task
should demonstrate match on action, shot/reverse
shot and the 180 degree rule.
4. The 180 degrees rule is so when you’re filming you can
only film in 180 degrees of the set. Instead of filming in
different angles around the scene its just the 180
degrees.
5. • Match on action is an editing technique of the continuity
system where in a cut is placed in the midst of an action
so that the action from one shot continues to the next.
6.
7. • Shot reverse shot is usually used in a conversation
when filming. They can also be used for effects but
mainly used in a TV drama during conversations.
8. • When were filming inside the toilets there is a
conversation between two people where we used the shot
reverse shot and close ups to show facial expressions.
9. • Overall we’ve had a few ideas of what storyline to go
with in our media task. We’ve had ideas from exchanging
drugs for money, two brothers going for a job but one is
really dumb but the idea were using is ‘toilet talk’ its
where two people in a school had a toilet pass and one of
the students are bit stranger than the other and thinks he
has seen him before.
10. James walking As James
into the toilet walks into

conversation with

11. The rules are important in the task and we have to keep to
them. The first rule is the 180 degree rule, this rule will
be used throughout which will also come in well to
include a shot/reverse shot. Also the 180 degree rule will
include over the shoulder shot and also a pan. Match on
action is the third rule, we will use this when we open the
door from the outside then the next shot will be from
inside the toilet opening the door.
12. • Jake: Oh you alright mate?
• James: I’m good?
• Jake:I swear I’ve seen you before?
• James: Wrong guy mate
• James: What are you doing?
• Jake: hi there
15. • The group had a couple of ideas but one or two of them
were bad. We had started filming a couple of other
storylines and we realised they wasn’t good enough so
we all decided one storyline and went for it and it is
turning out very well
