THE ECOSYSTEMS OF OCEANS
AND SEAS
BY ABDAAL KAKAR,

THE ECOSYSTEMS OF THE OCEAN IS DIVIDED INTO ZONES THERE MAY BE MANY HABITATS IN EACH ZONE
THE INDERTIDAL ZONE THE INTERTIDAL IS WHERE THE TIDE
MOVES UP AND MOVE DOWN THE SEA-SHORE . THERE ARE TWO MAIN KINDS
OF HABITAT HERE THE ROCKY SHORE AND THE SANDY SHORE
THE COASTAL ZONE THE COASTAL ZONE IS FURTHER AWAY FROM
THE SHORE . IT HAS DEEPER WATER AND THERE ARE NO TIDE HERE .
THE OPEN SEA IS FAR AWAY FROM COAST AND IS DIVIDED INTO THREE ZONES
SUNLIT ZONE : The sunlit zone is the top layer of the ocean where
sunlight reaches, usually up to about 200 meters deep. It's where most marine
plants and animals live because they need sunlight to grow. This zone is full of
life, including fish and coral reefs.
TWILIGHT ZONE : The twilight zone, or disphotic zone, is the area of the
ocean just below the sunlit zone, typically between 200 and 1,000 meters deep.
It gets limited light, so not many plants can grow. Some fish and other
creatures can still live here, but it's darker and colder.
DARK ZONE :
The dark zone, or abyssal zone, is the deepest part of the ocean, usually
below 1,000 meters. It's completely dark, very cold, and has high pressure.
Few organisms live here, but some like deep-sea fish, squids, and unique
creatures thrive in this extreme environment
