Taxonomic Class: Fine, smectitic, mesic Vertic
Albaqualfs.
Order: Alfisol.
Parent Material: silty and clayey glaciolacustrine
deposits.
Texture: silt loam or silty clay loam with 15 to 30
percent clay and 0 to 3 percent gravel. It has weak to
moderate sub-angular blocky or granular structure.

Characteristics: The soils are usually moist and are
saturated with water during the winter and spring.
Depth to aquic (high water, low oxygen) conditions is
10 inches. Abrupt textural change ranges from 12 to 24
inches.

percent clay. It has weak to strong granular or very fine
subangular blocky structure.
15. Bashaw
Characteristics: These soils are usually moist and are
saturated with water for several months each year. The
soils crack and open and close once each year. This is
a typical trait of the Vertisol soil order.
