What happens when these new transit investments follow market rate development and cause increased displacement? Can transportation investments, transit oriented development and equitable development co-exist?

I was fortunate enough to visit the Tenement museum in the Lower East Side.
Our Guide David gave a recreated apartment tour at 27 orchard where 20 families lived inside.
Tailors Harris and Jennie Levine and the Lustgarten’s who owned the local butcher shop.
Tenements were described as 3 or more families living independently with a kitchen.
Rents at the time were $13 per month on average where 30% income was allotted to rent and 30 % income to food.
People migrated from the lower east side tenements to Williamsburg or Bensonhurst Brooklyn.

Our Movement is not new; it is the same as it was for Freedom, Justice, and Equality since we were labeled as slaves. However, this movement at its core must entail economics.
2.) Historical Context
This is the same movement because none of the previous movements, such as boycotts, were ever completed. For some, maybe, but for the most part, it’s just a place to keep your stable until you’re ready to assimilate them into your system. The rest of the crabs are left in the world’s worst parts, begging for scraps.
3.) Economic Empowerment
Our Movement aims to show that it is indeed possible for the less fortunate to establish their economic system. Everyone else – Caucasian, Asian, Mexican, Israeli, Jews, etc. – has their systems, and they all set up and usurp money from the less fortunate. So, the less fortunate buy from every one of them, yet none of them buy from the less fortunate. Moreover, the less fortunate really don’t have anything to sell.
4.) Collaboration with Organizations
Our Movement will demonstrate how organizations such as the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, National Urban League, Black Lives Matter, and others can assist in creating a much more indestructible Black Wall Street.

The games that we play are based on an engagement model. Instead of imposing change, the games enable people to pull in ideas for change and apply those in a way that best suits their collective needs.
By playing games, you can learn from each other. Teams can use games, exercises, and coaching cards to discuss values, principles, and practices, and share their experiences and learnings.

Calle Cuatro, known as “La Cuatro,” is a marketplace along Fourth Street that houses street vendors, cafes, world-renowned restaurants, and gift shops. “La Cuatro” Business Owners The proposed OC Streetcar lane cuts right through the Lacy neighborhood on Fourth Street. In 2016, half of the surveyed households in Lacy report total household incomes of less than $25,000. Lacy Neighborhood Residents OCTA leadership, Executive Staff, and Board of Directors have historically had a united front when dealing with the public. OCTA Leadership Public transportation agencies, namely OC Bus, Metrolink, and OC Access. OC Bus is the local bus service provider, Metrolink operates the commuter rail system, and OC Access offers paratransit and rideshare services to the community. Local Public Transit Agencies 02. 03. 04. 05. TOD Developers Transit-oriented developers constitute one of the main stakeholder groups. One among them is Northgate Gonzales Real Estate, proposing a luxury apartment project in Downtown Santa Ana.
- 6. ENGAGEMENT LEVEL Based on the project’s purpose, impact, and complexity, the more suitable overall level of engagement will be the INVOLVE level. This level, whose public participation goal is to work directly throughout the process to ensure that public concerns and aspirations are consistently understood and considered.

CHALLENGES Proponents believe the project will stimulate local economy; opponents have concerns over construction impacts and traffic Community Impact DTSA has remained somewhat affordable; will TODs that follow the Streetcar cause displacement? - 9. OUR BUDGET Aligned with Construction thru Significant Completion ● We’ve analyzed the project schedule, focusing on the phases that will have the most impact to the public. From NTP to Operational Service, there will be multiple stages of the project, which will require higher output of public engagement. ● Years 2 - 4 will have sustained construction, causing disruption to the community through road closures, noise and visual pollution and monetary impact to local vendors. It is imperative that we are methodical with outreach during this critical time period. ● Year 5 we will conduct a major campaign to celebrate the OC Streetcar opening and its benefits to the community.
