NATIONAL IMMUNIZATION PROGRAM
MUNICIPAL TASK FORCE
2. OVERVIEW:
The Department of Health(DOH) is committed to protect the population against
serious and often fatal vaccine preventable diseases, such as measles,
diphtheria, pertussis, etc through provision of free vaccines and vaccination.
The Expanded Program on Immunization (EPI), now called National
Immunization Program (NIP)
- was established in 1976 to ensure that infants/children and mothers have
access to routinely recommended infant/childhood vaccines
- Six vaccine-preventable diseases were initially included in the EPI:
tuberculosis, poliomyelitis, diphtheria, tetanus, pertussis and measles.
- To date, the NIP have seven (7) routine vaccines: BCG, Hepa B, Penta, OPV,
IPV, PCV, MMR/MR
3. GENERAL OBJECTIVES:
• To reduce the morbidity and mortality among children against the most
common vaccine-preventable diseases.
SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES:
• To increase the FIC Coverage, the LGUs shall:
1. Create a Provincial /City/ Municipal/ Barangay Task Force;
2. Provide assistance during the:
a. Conduct catch-up immunization (routine and missed children);
b. IEC campaigns (Bandillo, Reproduction /Posting of materials);
c. Recording and Reporting;
d. Team mobilization (transportation/ food); and
e. Monitoring.

Health Services Information System);
• Provincial / City/ Municipal / Barangay
• AFP Surveillance and Vaccine Preventable Diseases;

• Presentation of Roles and Functions of Provincial, City, Municipal and Barangay Task
Force
AGENDA:
5. • Provincial, City, Municipal and Barangay Task Force created with policies issued (EO,
Ordinance);
• Action plan developed;
• Timely submission of reports facilitated; and
• NIP activities monitored and documented.
EXPECTED OUTPUT:
