Bread balloons
The students conducted an experiment to blow up a balloon using yeast, sugar, and warm water. They hypothesized that the yeast mixing with the sugar and water would produce carbon dioxide, inflating the balloon. The method involved creating a funnel from a bottle, adding the ingredients, and securing a balloon over the top. Over time, some balloons inflated more than others due to variations in measurements. While some experiments were more successful, all students enjoyed the learning experience.

The students in the 1st grade Voyage class have been working on a sea project this trimester. They learned many interesting facts about the sea that they never could have imagined. As part of the project, the students did experiments like scientists to better understand concepts. They made hypotheses about what materials boats are made of, then tested materials to see which float. They concluded that boats are made of materials like cork, wood, and plastic, and need a flat bottom and sides to float.
Water And Air
The children participated in an experiment where they placed a small piece of paper on top of a glass filled with water. They predicted that the water would fall out of the glass, but were surprised when it remained in place due to the air pressure. Most of the children enjoyed repeating the experiment and focused on doing the activity rather than listening to the explanation of why the water did not spill. One child showed interest in understanding the scientific explanation.

Research showed that vibrations move air and water, and can be seen more easily in water. Hitting a tuning fork over water showed its 426 vibrations per second. Putting water on a speaker also allowed vibrations to be seen, but the speaker broke. The conclusion is that sound vibrations can be seen by putting water on a source of enough vibrations, like a speaker or tuning fork.
Learning about light with our comenius partners

A Strategic Approach: GenAI in Education
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.

- 3. Our question is… What spoon makes The loudest noise When it hits the cup?
- 5. Our method is… We filled cups with different amounts of water and we whacked them and they each made different notes. We made a cup whacking xylophone with different materials of spoons and I made a song. Method
- 6. Hypothesis We think that that the less water the higher the note will be.
- 7. Results We found out that we were right because the more water the lower the note will be and the opposite way.
- 8. Conclusion We found out that our hypothesis was right because the sound waves had more water to travel in so it made a lower note. We had a lot of fun doing this experiment. So we hope you enjoyed our slide show.
