Nurse Practitioner Essay
Introduction:
"A new idea is first condemned as ridiculous and then
Dismissed as trivial, until finally it becomes what Everybody knows" – William James.

these changes resulted from events such as restructuring of the health care delivery system,
burgeoning technology and health information, increasing mobility of nurses with in and between
countries, escalating multi–generational workforce, increasing cultural diversity in world and
changing population demographics (Anthony, 2006 : Tomey, 2009). Finally in 1998 bill 42 was
passed for licensure of nurse practitioners.

Your motivation for pursuing a career in the MSN specialty for which you are applying

Essay On Nurse Practitioner Role
Nurse Practitioner Role
The role of nurse practitioner is valuable when discussing collaborative care. There are so many
levels of care, so many health entities, and so many insurer criteria involved that it is instrumental to
have a role that can work towards help bring all aspects together. In addition to diagnosing, treating,
and managing care, the role of the nurse practitioner is to manage simple and episodic acute health
issues along with chronic disease (Sangster–Gormley, Martin–Misener, & Burge, 2013). It is
important to note that although this is a function of this role, nurse practitioners also practice from a
holistic point of view which allows them to help manage patient conditions or wellness in a more
complete fashion. This includes helping patients have access to care beyond primary and secondary
care settings. This encourages nurse practitioners to work alongside other health care and allied
health professions, and families to create an individualized plan for every patient (van...show more

This theory highlights meaning and transcendence in our lived experiences (Parse, 2014). In the idea
behind meaning, individuals are encouraged to state their personal understanding of living and being
and individual. Humans construct meaning through lived experiences. Likewise, nurse practitioners
share responsibility along with patient in constructing meaning through their health care journeys. In
the same way, results from these health experiences helps patients to transcend and go beyond the
limits of their condition to understand more about themselves and realize the value of wellness.
Lastly, the bible also encourages humans to come together as one. John 4:12 reminds us that if we
love one another, God abides in us and his love is perfected in us. This is the essence of
collaboration, and for this reason, the American health care system should continue to strive for

The advanced nursing practice role that I plan to obtain from South University is The Certified
Nurse Practitioner, to be precise Family Nurse Practitioner. " CNPs are members of the health care
delivery system, practicing autonomously in areas as diverse as family practice, pediatrics, internal
medicine, geriatrics and women's health care"(Consensus Model for APRN regulation, 2008, p.9).
Family nurse practitioners provide a wide range of health care services that revolve around the
family unit, from health promotion and disease prevention to direct care and counselling across the
life span. They provide initial, ongoing, and comprehensive care, includes taking comprehensive
histories, providing physical examinations and other health assessment and screening activities, and
diagnosing, treating, and managing patients with acute and chronic illnesses and diseases. This
includes ordering, performing, supervising, and interpreting laboratory and imaging studies;
prescribing medication and durable medical equipment; and making appropriate referrals for patients

The Role Of Nurse Practitioner
The role that nurse practitioner (NP) plays within the increasing complex health care system is a
constant changing role with the Consensus Model and the introduction of the Affordable Care Act in
2010. The scope of the nurse practitioner (NP) includes the care of the young, the old, the sick and
the well. The educational needs of a nurse practitioner vary greatly from that of a Registered Nurse
(RN), in the amount of education as well as the focus of the education. NPs provide coordinated
primary care with the use of comprehensive health histories and physical examinations, diagnosing
and treating acute and chronic illnesses, the management of medications and therapies, ordering and
interpreting tests results, and educating and...show more content...
As the NP transitions to practice and the scope of practice of the NP continues to change, this
adds an additional emphasis on why the need for comprehensive history and physical assessment,
and advanced pharmacology is needed, as the NP could be practicing as a standalone practitioner
in some areas with little to no supervision. Health is defined a state of wellbeing which is equally
viewed by many different cultures. However, the definition of wellbeing is seen differently among
cultures, in relationship to their beliefs and values. (DeNisco & Barker, 2015). Cultural care in
nursing is a very important part of nursing care, whether the nurse is a bedside RN or a practicing
primary care NP. There are many theories in nursing related to cultural care. Most encompass the
need for nurses to take into consideration the cultural caring behaviors and values of individuals and
families to provide culturally competent nursing care. Cultural competence is focused on learned
behaviors and actions and can be pertain and individual, organization or policy (Oelke, Thurston, &
Arthur, 2013). Ideally, a healthcare providers' practice would only be influenced by the individual
patient and/or the community of which the patient resides. But in reality, the healthcare providers'
practice and care is influenced by many entities, such as the

Abstract
A Nurse Practitioner has a very serious job. Being a nurse practitioner is not a job for someone
who is not willing to work hard and be ready for anything at any moments notice. There are many
different specialties to being a nurse practitioner such as emergency care, pediatric. Nurse
practitioners work long hours and can work anywhere, from a doctor's office to a hospital.
Introduction
Becoming a nurse practitioner is a common career now a day. There are many different places that
a nurse practitioner could work. Family Nurse Practitioners are on the front line of working with
families to ensure the health and well being of a wide range of people. Nurse Practitioners can work
long, hard hours for a well paying salary.
Definition
Nurse practitioners work with other doctors to ensure that patients stay healthy or become healthier
once again. Due to their training in clinical medicine, nurse practitioners are able to make diagnoses
and treat patients for many different health problems (Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP), n.d.).
Although nurse practitioners are not doctors, they are advanced registered nurses. The description of

Nurse Practitioner Reflection
In today's world, where globalization and the internet has shrunken spaces and reduced distances, it
is only natural that we come across people of different cultures living in harmony. As a nurse
practitioner, one experiences several circumstances where the patients are from different cultural
backgrounds, varied religious beliefs and also from the other part of the world. While a nursing
practitioner has a challenge of treating every patient with utmost care and concern, there are times
where our strengths and beliefs come in between our duty (Maier–Lorentz, 2008). A nurse
practitioner might have to face situations where they might not have any control over, and still
should show their best face. This is where their values, beliefs and behaviors might help them to
achieve the impossible.
This write–up is a conscious effort on my part to look into my strengths, beliefs, values and
behaviors and reflect upon how they can contribute towards my nursing practice in a multicultural
environment.
Values
The values I had put forth include altruism, human integrity, honesty and generosity as well as
helpfulness. Every nurse needs to have these four essential values to do their best for the patients.
While a selfless concern for others well–being has been an oath that is taken by every nursing
practitioner, I have, so far in my work towards the patients, have been altruistic and selfless. There
are times when a difficult patient or an emergency (when you have a personal plan outside

As a nurse practitioner, one experiences several circumstances where the patients are from different cultural backgrounds, varied religious beliefs and also from the other part of the world. While a nursing practitioner has a challenge of treating every patient with utmost care and concern, there are times where our strengths and beliefs come in between our duty (Maier–Lorentz, 2008). APRN's offer a wide array of services, including preventive care, health education, and treatments of common illness, along with management of acute and chronic conditions. By widen the scope of practice for APRN's in restricted states it will help decrease the burden of the influx of new patients in the primary care setting along with providing optimal, scientific based healthcare (Full Practice Authority, n.d.). By allowing APRNs to practice to their full authority it will provide patients with direct access to healthcare across the State of Tennessee. Full practice authority for APRNs can expand access to healthcare, improve efficiency, decrease cost, and give patients more individualized choices regarding their primary care provider (Jackson, 2014). APRNs are well positioned to be a vital part of the primary health care setting without restrictions, given the educational background, training, and extent of experience within the healthcare field (Gutchell, Idzik, & Lazear, Get more content on HelpWriting.net
