How can Application Discovery and Delivery Intelligence (ADDI) help in documenting your current Mainframe Application portfolio to benefit a big productivity gain in getting a much better understanding of your legacy source code. Next to this, it has mechanisms to find Business Terms in the Legacy code and to extract business logic that is related to these Business Terms to isolate them as API's or to a Business Rules Management tool.

One of the top IT project priorities of organisations is the application modernisation of their core legacy applications. During this session Mr. Kindelberger will introduce the main paint points of monolithic legacy applications and the key drivers that motivate the customers to modernise. Moreover, he will present how the new generation of application architecture with a modernised mainframe will look like. He will then introduce different approaches such as APIs enablement, business rules externalization or Java re-engineering to modernize the core COBOL or PL/I applications. Lastly, he will make a specific focus on the IBM solution called Operational Decision Manager (ODM) to externalise business rules embedded in the legacy code.

Data to Consumer : end to end middleware capabilitiesAsanka Abeysinghe
Consumer-driven and rapidly changing business requirements are creating the need to go beyond traditional middleware in enterprises today. Because the middleware layer has enough functional capabilities it empowers architects to convert their blueprints to solutions without changing the architecture to fit into the middleware limitations.
Asanka will first look at the evolution of middleware and how current and next-generation middleware looks like (Platform-3.0). Following this, he will analyze the middleware requirements from data (system of record) to consumer (system of engagement) by illustrating a layered architecture of modern enterprise middleware.
Enterprise agility—the ability to adapt fast and seize new opportunities while reducing costs—is critical for an organization to survive and thrive in this evolving digital age. While the rewards of bringing about agile transformation are significant, how many companies really achieve key results? Did you know the success rate is less than 10%? Even organizations that follow various agile methodologies do not adhere to them across the board, resulting in what’s known as agile-waterfall or wagile approaches.
Is there a pragmatic way to become truly agile?
Yes, by embracing programmability. This approach goes beyond infrastructure automation, which is a common practice, by enabling programmatic access to automate actions, procedures, processes, and runtimes used in an application’s entire lifecycle. With programmability and end-to-end automation, teams can increase productivity and flexibility and quickly decommission repeatable tasks; they can also spend more time on implementing innovative ideas.
Asanka will share his experience from applying programmability in successful projects delivered iteratively, rapidly and in a timely way. In addition to the associated lean methodology, he will discuss a supportive reference architecture.
Most organizations engaged in transformation today are moving from left to right in digitally-driven maturity models. The objectives are well known: increase agility, boost productivity, and provide seamless digital experiences for consumers.
Architects play a pivotal role as the curators of this transformation. In this session, Asanka will share his experience on how architects can contribute and introduce a framework to follow on refactoring enterprises.

Creating Mobile Enterprise Applications with Red Hat / JBosshwilming
Pushed by the success of personal smartphones and tablets, mobile clients already became a standard integral component of modern IT landscapes. It is even common in enterprises that employees bring their own devices (BYOD) and integrate these with the internal systems. This raises a need for frameworks and middleware systems to support the development and operating departments in fulfilling the new requirements brought by mobile clients. Typical examples are:
adapt application architectures so that they can be used in a scenario with poor connectivity or even offline,
ensure that critical enterprise data is stored safely and securely on mobile devices,
provide development frameworks that support mobile clients on all tiers, starting from the database up to the application logic to finally to the GUI layer.
Red Hat offers solutions for all of these requirements. akquinet, as a longtime premier partner has a lot of experience in the field of mobile applications gathered in real-life projects. Effective Application Security in Software Delivery lifecycle using Deployment Firewall and DBOM
The modern software delivery process (or the CI/CD process) includes many tools, distributed teams, open-source code, and cloud platforms. Constant focus on speed to release software to market, along with the traditional slow and manual security checks has caused gaps in continuous security as an important piece in the software supply chain. Today organizations feel more susceptible to external and internal cyber threats due to the vast attack surface in their applications supply chain and the lack of end-to-end governance and risk management.
The software team must secure its software delivery process to avoid vulnerability and security breaches. This needs to be achieved with existing tool chains and without extensive rework of the delivery processes. This talk will present strategies and techniques for providing visibility into the true risk of the existing vulnerabilities, preventing the introduction of security issues in the software, resolving vulnerabilities in production environments quickly, and capturing the deployment bill of materials (DBOM).
Speakers:
Bob Boule
Robert Boule is a technology enthusiast with PASSION for technology and making things work along with a knack for helping others understand how things work. He comes with around 20 years of solution engineering experience in application security, software continuous delivery, and SaaS platforms. He is known for his dynamic presentations in CI/CD and application security integrated in software delivery lifecycle.
Gopinath Rebala
Gopinath Rebala is the CTO of OpsMx, where he has overall responsibility for the machine learning and data processing architectures for Secure Software Delivery. Gopi also has a strong connection with our customers, leading design and architecture for strategic implementations. Gopi is a frequent speaker and well-known leader in continuous delivery and integrating security into software delivery.
Elevating Tactical DDD Patterns Through Object CalisthenicsDorra BARTAGUIZ
After immersing yourself in the blue book and its red counterpart, attending DDD-focused conferences, and applying tactical patterns, you're left with a crucial question: How do I ensure my design is effective? Tactical patterns within Domain-Driven Design (DDD) serve as guiding principles for creating clear and manageable domain models. However, achieving success with these patterns requires additional guidance. Interestingly, we've observed that a set of constraints initially designed for training purposes remarkably aligns with effective pattern implementation, offering a more ‘mechanical’ approach. Let's explore together how Object Calisthenics can elevate the design of your tactical DDD patterns, offering concrete help for those venturing into DDD for the first time!

Securing your Kubernetes cluster_ a step-by-step guide to success !KatiaHIMEUR1
Today, after several years of existence, an extremely active community and an ultra-dynamic ecosystem, Kubernetes has established itself as the de facto standard in container orchestration. Thanks to a wide range of managed services, it has never been so easy to set up a ready-to-use Kubernetes cluster.
However, this ease of use means that the subject of security in Kubernetes is often left for later, or even neglected. This exposes companies to significant risks.
In this talk, I'll show you step-by-step how to secure your Kubernetes cluster for greater peace of mind and reliability.
Neuro-symbolic is not enough, we need neuro-*semantic*Frank van Harmelen
Neuro-symbolic (NeSy) AI is on the rise. However, simply machine learning on just any symbolic structure is not sufficient to really harvest the gains of NeSy. These will only be gained when the symbolic structures have an actual semantics. I give an operational definition of semantics as “predictable inference”.
All of this illustrated with link prediction over knowledge graphs, but the argument is general.
Epistemic Interaction - tuning interfaces to provide information for AI supportAlan Dix
Paper presented at SYNERGY workshop at AVI 2024, Genoa, Italy. 3rd June 2024
https://alandix.com/academic/papers/synergy2024-epistemic/
As machine learning integrates deeper into human-computer interactions, the concept of epistemic interaction emerges, aiming to refine these interactions to enhance system adaptability. This approach encourages minor, intentional adjustments in user behaviour to enrich the data available for system learning. This paper introduces epistemic interaction within the context of human-system communication, illustrating how deliberate interaction design can improve system understanding and adaptation. Through concrete examples, we demonstrate the potential of epistemic interaction to significantly advance human-computer interaction by leveraging intuitive human communication strategies to inform system design and functionality, offering a novel pathway for enriching user-system engagements.
