           COMMON AND PROPER NOUNS.

A common noun is a general name given to all
people, places, animal and thing of the same kind.
Common nous does not refer to any particular
person, animal, place or thing.
Common nouns are spelled in small letters. They do
not begin with a capital letter.
Examples:
  1. Zizi built a birdhouse.
  2. Her grandmother lives in Olive Brooks.
  3. My friend Zizi has a nice birdhouse.
B: Proper Nouns: is a speacial name given to a
particular person, place, animal or thing.
   Proper nouns always start with capital letter.
   Don’t confuse a noun with a word that tells
    something about a noun.
Example: Proper Noun.
  1. Cartagena is a beautifulcity.
Cartagena is a special name of a particular city.
  2. Mary is my best friend.
Mary is a special name for a particular person.
  A proper noun can be made up of more than
   one word.

   Names of places                   San Felipe Castle.
   continents, countries,            North America, Continent
   states, cities, villages,         Florida, State
   lakes, rivers etc.
   Names of the week.                Sunday to Saturday.
   Names of the month.               January to December.
   Names of books.                   The Catholic Bible.
