3. Singular/ Plural Nouns (chart 6.1 p:95)
• Singular to plural= add –s/-es
• Remember –ch/-sh/-s/-z/-x => -es

4. Nouns as adjectives (chart 6.2 p:98)
• It is when a noun acts as an adjective to modify or
describe another noun.
Example:
- My mother prepared a soup that has vegetables in it.
My mother prepared a vegetable soup.
Vegetable= noun as adjective
Soup= noun
-This is a shop that sells shoes.
This is a shoe shop.
Shoe= noun as adjective (modifying the shop)
shop=noun

-I have a brother who is ten years old.
=> I have a ten-year-old brother.

6. Possessive Nouns (chart 6.3 p:101)
• It shows possession or ownership of something.
Singular nouns = ‘s
Example: A kid’s toy is thrown on the floor.
James = James’s or James’
Plural noun= s’
The ladies’ shoes are shining in the party.
Irregular plural form of nouns= ‘s
Children= children’s items
-Loulwa and Lea’s car is parked outside. (share the same
car so one possessive form is added to the second owner)
-Loulwa’s and Lea’s cars are parked outside. (two different
owners of two different cars)

7. Non-count and Count Nouns (chart 6.5
p:105)
• Some nouns are countable while others are non-
countable.
• Countable nouns end with –s/-es. They are also
preceded with an article (a/an).
For example:
A chair, a dog , one egg
Noun-count nouns don’t end with –s/-es. They are not
preceded with an article (a/an).
For example:
Incorrect= a furniture
Correct= furniture/ a lot of furniture/ some furniture …
