Noted is a webzine created in 2012 by Isaac Powell and Ashley Collins dedicated to reviewing albums from many genres to promote lesser-known artists. They aim to provide high-quality, in-depth reviews without scores or track-by-track summaries. They are looking to expand their small team of writers to cover more music. Their site traffic has grown since launching and they expect higher numbers after an upcoming redesign to improve content management and social media integration.

2. Noted is a multipurpose music webzine, created in the tail-end of 2012 by Isaac
Powell and Ashley Collins, dedicated to shining a light on the best new music from
as many different genres as possible.
We provide insightful and in-depth reviews of albums and EPs, unhindered by clutter
or pandering, in order to better promote and give exposure to lesser-known bands
and artists.

3. In our writing, we aim to provide a high quality, and in that we have two guidelines.
1. We do not give scores or ratings for the albums we review.
Given that our site is based around our writing, we like to make sure that our
opinions are wholly represented within our reviews. Scores or ratings are arbitrary
and can end up taking precedence over the written word, something we’d like to
avoid.
2. We do not write track-by-track reviews or any similar formats.
We are confident that we can properly surmise our thoughts in a structured, flowing
review rather than just writing about tracks individually. Such formats strike us as
lazy and uninspired.

4. Our scope is broad: we review music from all over the world, from many genres. We
have reviewed from, but are certainly not limited to:
indie rock, alternative rock, electronica, electropop, punk rock, hardcore, post-
hardcore, post-rock, post-metal, metal, drone, doom, ambient and pop.
Despite this, a core team of two writers can only review so much. As such, we are
scouting for contributing writers to join the team on a regular, active basis, enabling
us to listen to and promote even more.

5. While we do primarily review smaller releases, we also make sure to review a
handful of larger releases from more established artists so as to bolster the smaller
ones.
We write anywhere from 300-750 words per review. This range has proven to be the
optimum amount, giving ample room to effectively discuss an album’s attributes.
This opportunity will allow you to raise your profile as a reviewer, enabling you to
engage in conversation with artists and labels alike and becoming pivotal in the
growth of a website which has already achieved a great deal in a small time.

6. To show where we have come from and
where we plan to go, here is a graph to
show our monthly Unique Visitor figures
since launching, as of July 11th 2013.
We are aiming for the June figure of over
5,000 unique visitors to become our
standard for each month, and we are
expecting generally higher figures when
our site relaunches in the coming month.
The award-winning web development
company Hitmo have done a fantastic job
redesigning the site with an improved
content management system.
This will allow us to post and format in a
way that is much easier and faster than
previously.
The new site has a better capacity for
involving social media, which will in turn
with the improved aesthetic allow us to
gain a higher viewership.
This transition will include a domain
change: from n0ted.net to
notedmusic.co.uk – a more legitimate
domain that will further aid our ability to
promote ourselves.

7. We hope to build a strong rapport with many music labels and artists over the
coming months, as we already have this year, with close ties to independent music
scenes as far afield as Scotland, Greece, Costa Rica and Australia.
