2. Biblical verses
• And so I tell you, every kind of sin and slander
can be forgiven, but blasphemy against the
Spirit will not be forgiven. 32 Anyone who
speaks a word against the Son of Man will be
forgiven, but anyone who speaks against the
Holy Spirit will not be forgiven, either in this
age or in the age to come. (Mtt 12:31-32)

THERE ARE SIX SINS AGAINST HOLY SPIRIT
• Presumption of God's mercy
• Despair
• Impugning the known truth
• Envy of other's spiritual good
• Obstinacy in sin
• Final impenitence

4. Presumption of God’s mercy
• Some people feel they don't have to live by
God's edicts simply because God will forgive
your sins if you ask him to. This means, to
some that you can act any way you want to
and not worry about it because they will be
allowed into heaven no matter how badly they
behave.

5. Despair of salvation
• It is a diffidence in the mercies and power of
God as also, in the merits of Jesus Christ,
as if they were not of force enough to save us.
This was the sin of Cain, when he said,
"My sin is greater than I can
deserve pardon.

6. Impugning the known Truth
• to "impugn" the known truth means to
attack it by word or argument, to resist
it, to contradict it, or even to oppose the
known truth or to challenge it as false.

7. Envy of others spiritual goods
• A sadness or repining at another's growth in
virtue and perfection; such as sectaries
seem to have when they scoff and are
troubled at the frequent fasts, prayers, feasts,
pilgrimages, alms-deeds, vows, and religious
orders of the Catholic Church, calling them
superstitious and fooleries, because they have
not in their churches any such practices of
piety.

8. Obstinacy in sin
• The definition of obstinacy is "the state or
quality of being stubborn or refractory". So in
reference to sin that would mean that the
person sinning is being stubborn with their
sin. They are stuck on a certain sin and they
are not willing to give it up. They are refusing
to turn away from their sin and repent, thus
being stubborn.

9. Final Impenitence
• to die without either confession or contrition
for our sins, as those do of whom it is
said, "With a hard neck, and with
uncircumcised hearts and ears, you always
resist the Holy Ghost." (Acts vii. 51.)

10. Can we be saved ?
• The nature of this sin has been the subject of
much debate. In context, Jesus was referring
to the sin of the teachers of the law (Mark
3:22-30) who said Jesus was possessed by
demons and had an evil spirit. The total
spiritual blindness of those who mistook the
work of Jesus for the work of Satan put them
beyond hope of repentance, faith and
forgiveness.

11. Can we be saved ?
• Many people worry about committing the
unpardonable sin accidentally or in a moment
of weakness, but most Bible experts say there
is no need for such worry. It is not that any sin
is beyond the power of God's grace..

12. Can we be saved ?
• The sin of the teachers of the law was not
forgiven because their own stubborn
perversion of the truth and hardness of heart
prevented them from repenting. Those people
who are concerned enough to worry about
their sins are not in danger of committing an
unpardonable sin.
